SanDisk Sansa SlotRadio Review

After attempting to sway tech simpletons away from CDs and on to microSD cards with the SlotMusic player, SanDisk is back to conquer the hearts of radio listeners in 2009 with the Sansa SlotRadio. Using a microSD card loaded with 1,000 songs across...

Solid build quality; generous accessory bundle

Very little control over tracks; clumsy radio controls; no equalizer; no hold button; possible to accidentally skip tracks

Even casual music fans who enjoy Billboard hits should save their cash and stick to FM radio.

Sansa SlotRadio

In the heavily saturated MP3 player market, sometimes it's best to choose a specific target audience and really go for it. One example of this can be found in the Slacker G2 Personal Radio Player , aimed at tech-savvy consumers with little time and...

The SanDisk Sansa SlotRadio is exceptionally easy to use, and no computer is required. Songs are extremely cheap, and the player includes an FM tuner and an integrated belt-clip.

The SanDisk Sansa SlotRadio suffers from so-so sound quality, and the music it comes with is locked to the cards. Listeners are subject to the whims of the Billboard music editors.

The SanDisk Sansa SlotRadio player is far from your standard MP3 player--and people with persnickety music preferences won't be impressed--but the device is a perfect solution for those who prefer a hands-off approach when it comes to digital music.

Sandisk Sansa slotRadio player

Since the iPod has won the battle for supremacy among MP3 players, SanDisk is trying a different strategy. Building on its idea of distributing music on microSD cards, as with its slotMusic player, the tiny Sansa slotRadio player ($99.99 direct), comes...

Compact design. Easy to use. No PC needed. Comes with a microSD card with 1,000 songs from Billboard charts. Plays WMA and MP3s from microSD cards. FM radio with 40 presets

Monochrome display. Can't skip backward. No auto-off when no earphones are plugged in

If modern radio hits are your thing, the tiny Sansa slotRadio player is a great value1,000 songs (plus the device) for $100. Just be prepared for a no-frills listening experience.

SanDisk Sansa slotRadio

This MP3 player offers preloaded music cards to keep your media needs simple and manageable. But is less really more?

Want a new MP3 player? Good luck. These days the market is so saturated with look-alikes, seem-alikes and feature-creeps that finding a good, simple media box can be a real chore. The developers at SanDisk want to change that, and with the new SanDisk...

"Slot Radio Card"

None I can think of

If you want to pay $29.99 for a revolving advertisement it is great. But I am not high on hearing ads for slot radio and no music.

"GREAT at what it does, nothing more"

Disclaimer: have a SANSA FUZE with slot radio capability (same difference I just have additional functionality). SLOT RADIO does 1 thing REALLY WELL. It INSTANTLY puts 1,000 hit songs (on an SD card) in your MP3 player CHEAP, and it plays them in order...

LOTS, LOTS, LOTS of good tunes CHEAP. Ease of use.

NO flexibilility: No rewind, replay, random selection.

Has it's problems, but I still like it

I bought the 80s and 90s slotradio card about 3 months ago. I listen to the card daily, along with other music on my Fuze. I would buy another card if I could get more recent music (2000 to now). The only problems I've had is the playlists not...

1. Wide selection of great music ; 2. Rediscovered a lot of music I forgot about ; 3. Good price, 1000 songs for $40. No download required

1. You can't delete songs or repeat songs ; 2. May get stuck on a playlist and you need to repeat it several times before it shuffles to another list ; 3. Uses a little more power than the normal functions

Don't waste your money. Only downloaded 6 songs..

Save your money..

Nothing is good about this unit. Stuck on the slotradio commercial. One ear phone plug doesn't work, and only downloaded 6 songs. Am getting REAL SICK of hearing DannyBoy..But, it did keep a charge. Mostly from my credit card. NOT WORTH IT

it's a good concept. But unfortunately another fine product from China. Wonder it didn't turn my ear green
