The biggest bonus for the Walkman though is its new drag-and-drop functionality
Good displayDrag and dropReasonably good value
No expansion possible
This 2GB version seems a bit light, and there's no memory expansion possible unlike the Sansas at half the price, but the 8GB iteration is only just over the £100 mark

The enclosure is relatively light, being cast in aluminium along with the fairly gigantic heatsink at the back
Beautifully detailed, with superb imaging, An unusually neutral performer with acoustical music, Rocks out surprisingly hard
Takes the fun out of amplifier and speaker cable upgrades, Looks a little industrial, Makes a noise when switched on/off
Build-wise, the amplifier is a straightforward affair, very robustly built on a circuit board mounted directly inside the enclosure

This tiny stack system's core styling rounds on its two egg-shaped speakers
Stylish, Wide iPod compatibility, Can be hooked up to a TV, Good sound quality
Unsightly cabling
The bitrate that your iPod music is encoded in will decide how much, of course, but the Picoforte One - an even meatier Picoforte Three model is also available - offers some serious all-round power

Pure, it seems, has woken up to the age of the eco warrior and constructed the Siesta mostly from recycled materials
Strongly eco-friendly, Easy to use
Design makes little sense, Sleep timer likely to wake you up
Despite poor sound and its plastic feel, the Siesta remains a user friendly DAB radio with some pretty unusual features

The new colour scheme is similar to that of the new nanos
Small and cuteBuilt-in clipVery good audio
Very poor valueStill only 1GBNo new features
The iPod shuffle is a decent enough device but it's poor value. We'd have been happier if it had been refreshed to 2GB with the other iPod lines, but, as it stands, it gets a lukewarm review this time around

With clear and easy controls you can find your favourite tunes or simply choose to shuffle your songs randomly
Lightweight and colourful ; Excellent battery life ; Decent sound quality
The sound quality is impressive, but even better is the remarkable battery life, as we managed to get well over 10 hours from a single charge

Like the styling, the One's connectivity is basic
Great value, Does its job well
Plain design
And that's a fair appraisal of the One. Cheap and cheerful in looks, it's easily the most advanced DAB radio in its class - of One

Sound quality's excellent right off the bat, even with the bundled headphones
Good sound ; Stylish and easy to use
Picture quality only average
It features a built-in FM radio, from which you can record your fave shows, and the thumb-slider is amazingly usable. A refreshingly neat player, and as a desirable gadget, it's a suitable iPod rival

The slightly cheaper Zen V in that it supports video playback and has a built-in radio and line-in audio socket
Loads of features considering the size
Cheap and lightweight
Also like the Vision: M, all the file management can be done through Windows or Windows Media Player, so feel free to ignore the enclosed disc full of proprietary software

Simply plug the Oasis into the mains for a few hours and you'll get around 15 hours of DAB radio playback
Simple set-up and usability, Good sound quality
Quite bulky
It's splashdown time for Pure
