Apple MacBook Pro (17-inch)

With the MacBook Pro, Apple hasn't radically redesigned the PowerBook form factor, it has just made a few refinements to it. Measuring 15.4 inches wide, 10.4 inches deep, and 1 inch thick, the sleek, aluminum MacBook Pro looks very similar to the...

Beautiful, sleek design; big, bright display; dual-core CPU; robust software package, including Mac OS X Tiger; illuminated keyboard and scrollable touch pad; DVD burner; built-in Webcam; remote control; can run Windows XP using Apple's free Boot Camp...

Lacks media card reader and some other ports; only 90 days of toll-free technical support.

With a solid array of components, a terrific set of features, and the lightest weight of any laptop its size, Apple's 17-inch MacBook Pro is a power user's dream, but it doesn't come cheap.

Okay cnet I understand that the macbook pro 17" does not have a media card reader but you can buy a usb powered one for about $20. This computer is not more expensive than others considering all of the extras it comes with (iSight, iLife, Bluetooth,...

Has everything you want

No internal media card reader

From MacDailyNews.com I agree completely.

Great Machine

"Best machine I ever owned."

I made the switch, finally. I used to be a diehard PC fan, my previous notebook was a Dell XPS2. This machine is almost perfect. Way thinner than my XPS2 and lighter. Keys feel good, they glow in the dark which is a plus. Screen is way brighter than...

Beautiful, bright screen, fast gfx processor.

Arrow keys not full size, wish you could get other color than silver

"As close to Perfect (For Now)"

I actually can't believe how fast this baby operates. I have tried to open exactly 12 DVD movies converted into .mov files and played them simultaneously via Quicktime. It handeled it very well as if there was only one Movie. I even tried adding iTunes...

Fast, Camera, Bright Display, and did I mention Fast

Would be nice to see a different design. But this is super fast!

"I wanted to say 8.5 but this is still an amazing machine."

First thing is first - I want to point out that CNet is being completely dishonest and extremely misleading by saying a Dell Inspiron is "hundreds less." If you go spec to spec with the standard MacBook Pro (2799) the dell ends up at 2795 - not exactly...

Excellent feature set, massive upgrade over previous version but same cost

Questions still remain about underclocking, when will they switch to the x1800?
