Asus packs the same basic components found in other Netbooks into a stylish, slim chassis for a modest premium in price, but some unfortunate keyboard-layout compromises make the S101 harder to use than it should be.

The touchpad has been remolded for the S101; it's coated in a brushed metal, which gives it a smooth yet textured feel. The dedicated left and right buttons from the 1000H have been replaced with a single bar that's more comfortable and easy to press

"Some great, standout features - but two major flaws"
I was initially very attracted to this laptop...
Solid-state memory. This makes for a smaller, tougher, lighter and faster laptop.
The right shift key is out of place. I'm a writer and wanted to purchase a laptop so I could write on-the-go. But I simply couldn't type properly because of the one misplaced key. This was a dealbreaker for me.
