Dialogue FlyBook Laptop review

The Flybook is the first device which Italian-based Dialogue have launched into the UK market and from first appearances is set to cause something of a stir. The adoption of Tablet PCs hasn't been as rapid as either Microsoft or the hardware vendors...

Stylish, lightweight

Pricey, not as sleek as it seems

This Italian-launched Tablet PC has plenty of style but lacks the goods

Though it's been on the market for a little while now, the Flybook is still the IT industry's baby, drawing admiring glances from many quarters.

It's just a little bit too expensive to be a great buy, but the Flybook has cool written all over it. The tablet PC form factor finally finds a product stylish enough to carry it off, but don't let the attractive, practical design distract you from the...

The Flybook is a small, light and well connected notebook, but how does it compare to the more establised competition?

Perhaps if I had reviewed the Flybook when it first hit the streets I may have been more impressed, but things have moved on a great deal since then. There are dual core mobile processors, integrated 3G modules and some killer designs on offer, all of...

The diminutive convertible tablet-style Flybook could be an appealing system for the business traveller, but it needs a boost in specification and a drop in price.

Small and light ; coloured livery is attractively different ; excellent handwriting recognition software ; 802.11b and Bluetooth, plus GPRS SIM card support

No optical drive or flash card slot ; slightly quirky cursor control

Given the small size of the Flybook, we can understand why there is no built-in optical drive. However, given the price we would like to see an external one bundled. We would also appreciate a few flash memory card formats supported on the Flybook...

While it's technically packed with add-on features, the poor basic performance of the Flybook makes it a bad choice for anyone seeking an ultraportable notebook.

Exceptionally small ; Can take SIM cards ; Tablet-like functionality

Sluggish performance ; Average battery life ; Annoying Trackpoint location

The lack of an optical drive, rather tepid notebook performance and high asking price of the flybook make it something of a non-starter, especially compared to the similarly priced, much better equipped Sony alternative, so unless the GSM capabilities...

I received one of these on trial, it came with the 80GB HDD, and Windows XP Pro SP2. On first appearance it is a stunning little laptop, much prettier than my Dell D810. At the end of the tests I purchased the version I had and placed an order for...

For anyone who might run across this thread, I would like to issue a strong warning to not deal with these people. I have been trying for three months to get a custom V5 put together and they have continued to lie and put me off. They took their...
