They're all the same because Microsoft says so

 

Should be 1000 x 768 instead of 1000 x 600, but Microsoft limits the size and power of these, which is why they're all the same processor, hard drive size, memory and monitor. There were a few 11" that could display images correctly but MS said no...

Cheapish, functional

Native resolution is too small to properly display most web pages. Usually just the border is missing

Seen one, seen 'em all. It looks like all these latest netbooks - production 01/10 on - all come from the same family of factories in China. Other than minute differences in software and keyboard layouts, all these things are identical. Asus, HP,...

Price, of course ; Battery life averaging 9+ hours with web-surfing and lowest brightness setting ; tiny, light, portable. Not too much bloatware

Boot up is going to take a little while ; Windows 7 starter won't let you change the wallpaper (without 3rd party software). Besides that, it is not at all the limited operating system I thought it would be ; Speakers are really cheap, use headphones
