Review HP Chromebook 11

Affordability and style. No one will accuse HP's latest Chromebook of neglecting its appearance; as far as plastic devices go, it's an attractive contender. But at just $279, is it even possible to supply the parts necessary for adequate performance? ...

Good build quality and impression for a budget machine; Bright IPS screen; Comfortable keyboard; Extremely portable size and weight; Charges using Micro USB (3.0 A); Fast boot and resume times; Completely silent; Great audio for its size

Nearly all functionality requires an internet connection; Sluggish overall performance due to weak CPU; Tiny (8 GB) local storage; Very warm under load; Chrome OS feels very limited and unfinished; Only apps from the Google Play store are compatible

Stated another way, while the build quality, screen, and input devices are superior to that of most other Chromebooks, there are probably better choices out there than the Chromebook 11 for most intended uses. If you’re just browsing the internet, it’s...

HP Chromebook 11 (Verizon LTE)

The HP Chromebook 11 (Verizon LTE) builds upon a slim and stylish design with a mobile internet connection that frees the Chromebook from the limitations of Wi-Fi.

Has 4G LTE capability. Sleek design. Solid construction. Bright In-Plane Switching (IPS) display

Limited port selection. LTE performance varies widely

When we first saw the HP Chromebook 11 late last year, there was plenty to love, from the sleek, well-built design to the gorgeous In-Plane Switching (IPS) display. It put Google's Chrome OS into an inexpensive laptop with a premium feel. But now HP...

HP Chromebook 11 Review

Following the Acer C720, which we recently reviewed, HP has brought its own new Chrome OS-harboring laptop to the market, the Chromebook 11. Unlike some of the other Chromebooks that are available, HP has elected to aim its focus on the design aspect...

If you’re a user who is more concerned about style and have minor hardware needs, perhaps a writer in need of a solid and inexpensive laptop that looks stylish at the coffee shop, then the Chromebook 11 is an applicable choice. Regardless, it is...

HP Chromebook 11 Review

We're in the midst of a netbook renaissance. Armed with lighter weight OSes, faster hardware and a better appreciation for what matters in a consumer device, OEMs are giving the concept another try.

A company that can very easily be held as complicit in the mismanagement and decline of the mainstream PC industry, HP did nothing short of a tremendous job with the Chromebook 11.

If you've been thinking about a Chromebook, HP's Chromebook 11 might be the one that sways you thanks to a slim and stylish design, lots of complimentary extras, and battery life to take you through the day.

Extremely affordable sub-$300 price. Sleek design and solid construction. Lots of extras, like free Google Drive space, free music, and complimentary in-flight internet. Bright IPS display. Solid battery life. Micro USB charging is an unexpected...

Minimal port selection, even for a Chromebook. Performance lags slightly behind other models. Chrome OS still has some limitations

If you've been on the fence about trying out Google's Chrome OS, the HP Chromebook 11 might be just what you need to reach the tipping point. The slim design and refined looks are matched with a handful of generous freebies—like free Google Drive...

HP Chromebook 11 review: Google gives the low end some much-needed luster

It's white! It comes with cute color accents! ...How the heck do you clean this thing? The latest and most colorful Chromebook, jointly launched by Google and HP, puts a fetching face on a model that's otherwise similar to other low-priced Chromebooks...

Beautiful design ; Lightweight and compact

Letterbox-scaled display feels cramped ; Touchpad's two-finger scrolling is balky ; Battery lasted just four hours in our tests

HP Chromebook 11

The HP Chromebook 11 delivers a vibrant display and sleek design for less than $300, but you'll sacrifice some battery life and performance.

Inexpensive; Bright colorful screen; Lightweight; Responsive keyboard; Attractive design

Short battery life; Bottom runs hot; Slow app open times; Limited app selection; No pinch-to-zoom

Like all Chromebooks, the HP Chromebook 11 is best for users with a limited set of needs: the desire to surf the Web and use online tools most of the time. If you want to work while away from the Internet, do a lot of photo editing or play demanding...

HP Chromebook 11

Editor's note, January, 29, 2014: Updated with details on the LTE version and the recalled AC charger for the original Chromebook 11.

The HP Chromebook 11 has a sharp design, comfortable keyboard, bright IPS display, and loud speakers; it also works with Chromecast for living-room media sharing.

Nothing much new under the hood: only 16GB of storage, no SD card slot, and it drops the regular HDMI port that the otherwise similar $250 Samsung Chromebook had. No touch screen. Chromebook still not great as offline-ready device.

A fresh look and comfortable feel make HP’s 11-inch budget Chromebook an appealing bet, especially for households that need a cheap no-frills Web-surfing Google Netbook. If you’re not thinking about productivity, though, you’re better off with a tablet.

HP Chromebook 11 review: is this $279 Chrome OS laptop really for everyone?

We've seen Chromebook prices get cheaper and cheaper, but the majority opinion appears to remain the same: they're nice laptops in theory, but they don't

Sleek, lightweight design ; Comfortable keyboard ; Convenient micro-USB charging

Sticky trackpad ; Chrome OS still offers limited functionality

HP's latest offering is one of the best Chromebooks we've seen, combining a great design, a comfortable keyboard and reliable performance for $279.
