Review MSI Wind U115 Hybrid Luxury Netbook

The Long-Distance Runner. The Wind U115 Luxury is a netbook alter

Good case quality; Good display, ideal for outdoor missions; WLAN draft-n; Extremely long runtimes; Quiet system noise; Low heat development; Complete configuration, except for UMTS

Strongly flapping display lid, depending on the working area; Adverse positioned USB ports; Small SSD memory; Partially small keys

are scarce. Lenovo has a S10e variant with SSD and HDD combination, but doesn't reach by far such a long runtime. The Samsung N120 or the Acer Aspire One 751 can boast with long runtimes of about 10 hours. On the other hand, both have reflective displays.

MSI Wind U115 Hybrid

Though its stellar battery life will appeal to road warriors, the pricey, bulky MSI Wind U115 Hybrid suffers from a few debilitating flaws that are hard to overlook.

Runs at least 8 hours on a battery charge; comfortable keyboard and touch pad; runs Windows from energy-efficient solid-state drive (SSD)

Expensive; small SSD causes hassles with Windows; mediocre performance; jerky full-screen video

Unfortunately, given the U115's dismal streaming-video performance and poorly implemented SSD solution, we're hard-pressed to recommend this netbook. We think most users will be happier with the Editors' Choice–winning Wind U123, which offers...

MSI Wind U115 netbook

While the MSI Wind U115 may not look special at first glance, this is not a typical netbook. It has a very long battery life, 802.11n wireless network...

Excellent battery life, SSD and conventional hard drive, 802.11n wireless networking

Poor balance, some keys are too small, touchpad buttons are not well defined

For travellers — or anyone who wants to work for long periods of time away from a power outlet — the MSI Wind U115 is perfect. Its battery life is the longest we've seen in an Intel Atom-based netbook, lasting well over five hours. We also like the...

MSI Wind U115 Hybrid brings both speed and size to netbook storage

Fantastic battery life ; Two storage options ; Bright screen

Tiny trackpad ; A little expensive

MSI Wind U115 Hybrid notebook review

MSI's latest netbook comes along boasting a long battery life and large storage with a quirky exclusive edge over the competition. Do all the specifications on paper match up with real life use, or do the claims of the manufacturer fall short in...

Both an SSD and HDD based netbook, 10-inch screen, good keyboard

Loses power saving settings easily, not a unique looking device: too close to the HP netbook for comfort, price

MSI Wind devices firmly take on the Asus Eee family of products, there’s no two ways about it. With the Wind U115, the dual approach of an SSD and an HDD could be the decider if capacity to cost ratio is a deciding factor

MSI Wind U115-025UK- 10in Hybrid Netbook

MSI's latest 10in netbook offers both solid state and mechanical storage.

This 10-hour figure is impressive, but our video playback testing demonstrated rather well how effective MSI's hybrid configuration is. When playing a video from the 160GB 'data' drive the U115's battery life is reduced to around five and a half hours....

MSI Wind U115 Hybrid review

MSI's Wind U115 Hybird is so-called because it has an 8GB solid-state disk (SSD) and a traditional 160GB hard disk.

The Wind is impressive thanks to its long battery life and bright screen, but it's very expensive and cheaper netbooks have similar battery life.

MSI Wind U115 review

It has a very long battery life, 802.11n wireless networking (Ralink 1t2r), Intel GMA 500 graphics, and two storage devices: a solid-state drive and a conventional spinning hard drive. As far as netbooks go, the MSI Wind U115 is a very interesting...

MSI Wind U115 Hybrid review

Full marks to MSI for trying to do something different with the MSI Wind U115 Hybrid, but, despite the excellent battery life, we're not convinced there's quite enough on offer to justify the high price tag

Great battery life ; Good screen ; Impressive keyboard

Expensive ; Tired-looking design

Conclusion The MSI Wind U115 Hybrid has a good screen, relatively spacious keyboard and amazing battery life, thanks to its SSD and HDD combination. But, given its tired-looking design and rather average performance in areas other than battery life,...

MSI Wind U115 Hybrid

Take a long, hard look at MSI's U115 Hybrid and you'll have trouble seeing any differences to the original MSI Wind U100. Unlike Samsung and Asus, MSI has made no attempt to tart up its one and only netbook chassis; unless, that is, you count the grey...

Hybrid storage extends battery life, but the rest of the package is weak
