MSI Wind Millions Special Edition U135 review

The MSI Wind Millions Special Edition U135 is a sleek and comfortable MSI netbook that commemorates worldwide sales of more than 1 million MSI Wind laptops.

The MSI Wind Millions Special Edition U135 is a netbook that looks good and is comfortable to use. It has a balance issue that we've seen in previous Wind netbooks, but we like the U135's build quality, design and features.

MSI Wind U135 review

The 10in MSI Wind U135 heralds the company's first mainstream netbook offering based on Intel's new Pine Trail Atom chips, which are supposed to be more power efficient than the older Atom processors.

The MSI Wind U135 definitely shines in terms of battery life and comes with Microsoft's brand new Windows 7 operating system. Compared to larger 11.6in, 12in netbooks, the Wind U135's 10in form factor is definitely smaller - screen, keyboard, touchpad...

caution

i have an asus netbookbased on the same intel design, and it worked great right out of the box this has the potential to be a great box, but MSI needs to step up their quality control. also they shoul have 64 bit driver available on their sit . I...

we have 5 of these at the office plus i bought 1 here for my wife, bnecause I like the keyboard and cpu performance. I'm able to run 64bit win7 with decent performance[ win7 exp ratin of 2.4

the winxp install we opted for arrived missing necessary drivers, plus the wireless and we cams work in NONE of the 5 machines purchased. 4 of them are being used as low cost desktop data entry stations, so the wireless and web cam issues did not hurt...

Surprisingly good

With the money I saved getting this over a comparable Asus or other brand I got an extra gig of RAM, carrying case, and USB mouse.

First of all, the build quality seems to be great. Way better than netbooks in the 30 to 60 dollar more range. I was expecting some shotty building to meet the price point, but was pleasantly surprised. The keyboard is a little cramped but doesn't feel...

None so far. Some might say XP home, but i prefer it over 7 starter. 7 Starter is too limiting, and you need an OS upgrade right off the bat. Maybe battery life, but for the price I wasn't expecting more than the ~2.5 hours I get. Pretty much any other...

satisfied

I was looking fora cheap netbook for travel and casual use. This netbook meets those needs. I've been suprised at the quality I got for the price. Still getting used to the small sized keyboard, and the screen being vertically smaller than normal. I...

I like the small size and the weight. The screen is easy to read, no glare. The wide screen format is a good thing. The speed is adequate for email and web browsing. The SD chip slot is convenient to load pictures. The 160 gig HD islarge enought for...

The keyboard, the up arrow key is next to the right shift key, so I find my touch typing is off. It came with XP home, which I bought a Windows 7 upgrade within two weeks. Documentation is on the light side, MSI web support site on the light side as...

Good Netbook

Compact and light. This netbook is just what i needed for my business much easier to pick up and carry around all day

the keyboard takes some getting used to and there is an exetreme amount preloaded software that was completely useless for me. In addition had to call MSI as the user manual provided with the system is not very useful

MSI Wind U130

Love this netbook. The keys, power button, LEDs, click button, screen, magnet instead of clasp (when closing)... they got it all right. Much nicer to look at (in my opinion) than my friends' HP and Gateway netbooks. Drop XP and install Ubuntu.

Cheap, clean and simple looking, plenty fast. Runs Ubuntu Netbook version beautifully

Battery died after just 3 weeks (flashing orange LED). May have been due to its constant removing (whenever an outlet was nearby) and subsequent reinstalling in an attempt to prolong the battery. Now must be plugged in in order to work. Big...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Good but needs a few things...

The wifi DOES cut out, and as some people have said its usually directly after the boot, but, I've figured that the system cuts the card off when the OS starts. Just use the Function key to turn it back on, irritating but not really bad.

Quick, light, small

The WLAN isn't that great, see other thoughts on that though. The battery is terrible, and the fact that the included RAM is integrated is irritating. Also, having to take off the entire bottom instead of just a small plate is a bit annoying
