Hewlett-Packard can't get seem to stop pumping out netbooks, and its new Mini 5101 is the slickest version yet.
Attractive, brushed metal aesthetic is welcome change to cluttered look found on many netbooks. Well spaced island keys reminiscent of Apple's sexy new MacBook keyboard
Weird, choppy QuickTime performance will make latest Transformers movie look like the first Terminator. Battery life weak compared to Asus

The Dell Latitude 2100 is a lot like a box of Froot Loops: It's clearly meant for kids but also easily enjoyed (sometimes secretly) by adults.
Cool, tough rubber exterior coating. Adult-sized keyboard also accommodates the smallest hands. Responsive trackpad. Snappy performance. Clear window on front of chassis meant for student's name tag
Tattletale web browsing light a little too Big Brother for our tastes. Optional extras drive up the price tag quickly. Chunky monkey power adapter

The company that essentially created the netbook phenomenon has hardly been one to rest on its laurels. And Asus, knowing a cash cow when it sees it, has been busily cranking out a ridiculous variety of machines, offering larger screens and better ...
To mitigate the 16-GB SSD, Asus throws in a 16-GB SD card and 20 GB of free online storage. Includes Bluetooth and Draft-N Wi-Fi. Super good looks. Superfly price
To mitigate the 16-GB SSD, Asus is forced to throw in a 16-GB SD card and 20 GB of free online storage. Extremely slow, with very limited expandability. Only two USB ports. Difficult touchpad button design

To call Lenovo's IdeaPad S10-2 a modest upgrade to its dazzling IdeaPad S10 would be an understatement. Even Lenovo seems to get this, giving this netbook no model number it can call its own.
Upgraded battery and screen brightness correct the few defects of the original S10, arguably making it the finest netbooks on the market. 3-G radio option available for $50
Flaky touchpad. Disappointing occasional bugginess. New, dot-studded pattern on shell: Love it or hate it

Toshiba is late to the netbook game, and with its 10.1-inch Mini NB205, the company overcompensates and complicates things a bit too much. But it still delivers a capable, quality machine.
Epically long battery provides hours of entertainment. Surprisingly lightweight (2.9 pounds) despite bodacious battery. Roomy trackpad accommodates normal hands. Hard-drive impact sensor safeguards data from everyday bump and grind
Awkward keyboard makes you feel like a n00b typist. Lame screen hinge detracts from the netbook's otherwise good looks. Setup puts you through an irritating game of 20 questions

The best part of this beautiful paragon of plastic and chrome is its keyboard. It's not exactly standard size, but it's proportioned to feel as if it were. The trackpad is nice and wide, too. And though small, the NC10 ain't no minuteman. The battery ...
Striking matte interior with chrome accents. Comes in black, blue, or white. Solid performance: Tied the Wind for second place
Single mouse button feels like a clunky, shrunken seesaw. Ships with 1 GB of RAM and holds only one stick, so you'll have to buy a 2-GB module if you want to upgrade

Weighing 2.4 pounds, this black-and-white mini-note turned in the second-best results in our benchmarks. But its teeny trackpad is not suitable for grown-ups. Battery life was decent - a skosh over 3 hours - although others in the roundup did ...
The Wind's roomy, comfortable keyboard should keep carpal tunnel at bay - as long as you hook up an external mouse. Nifty webcam uses facial recognition to log you in even on bad hair days
Question mark keycap is oddly small, stifling curiosity. Cheap speakers make music sound like a band of ants performing in an aluminum can

Asus basically invented the netbook, so it didn't surprise us when the company's latest Eee PC opened a can of whoop-ass on its competitors.
The first netbook to feature the new Atom N280 chip. MMC and SD media reader slots. Attractive, pearly finish. Decent 1.3-megapixel webcam
At 3.1 pounds, it's one of the heaviest puppies in the netbook litter. Lame keyboard

The next time you see some miserable drone hunched over his tiny, underpowered netbook, pecking away at cramped keys and straining to see the screen, pull out your EliteBook 2530p and laugh. Though not much larger or heavier than your average mini ...
Boots quick and runs for hours. About as compact as a notebook can be and still have a full-size keyboard. Squeezes in a touchpad and a pointing stick for users who prefer one over the other. Optional wireless modem works with multiple carriers ...
It's how much? What is this, a MacBook Air? Slow, sucky integrated graphics. Awkward, over-engineered touch volume controls hard to control. Six-cell battery sticks out from the rear, taking a little of the notebook's compactness with it.

Asus has been cranking out Eee PCs like a sexed-up hare squeezes out baby bunnies. It's been a bewildering clutch of netbooks: We've seen the 900, 901, 1000, 1000HA and 1000BK003 so far. But the latest one we tested, the 1002HA, actually seems like it ...
Brave design makes the Eee look less like a toy. MultiTouch-type technology added to the trackpad for easier scrolling. Asus bumps the screen up to 10 inches, giving you a bit more room.
Screen is still tiny, while the laptop itself is tubbier than the original Eee. Rocker mouse button is uncomfortable and not as responsive as it could be.
