Denon AHD2000

With earbuds practically taking over the popular private listening landscape, I can't help but wonder how many people consider over-the-ear headphones anymore. While I love my earbuds, especially while wandering around New York City and riding the...

Luxury full-size headphones with deep, powerful bass; well-padded earcups; solid construction.

Pricey; leather covers on earcups can cause sweat with extended listening sessions; body doesn't fold down for compact storage

For at-home listening, the Denon AH-D2000 headphones provide plenty of oomph, masterful musicality, and a solid, well-constructed design.

Denon MC2000 DJ Controller review

When Pocket-lint was a bit younger, and had that inevitable urge to take to the decks, the whole thing was a lot more costly and hard get in to. For a start, you needed to track down both records that you liked, and build a collection. Often, if you'd...

Sensibly priced, solidly built, brilliant control over your music library, software is simple but covers all the bases

Serato DJ Intro can't record your mixes, effects are limited, looping is quite average

For a reasonably modest price, you can get a tool that a few years ago would have cost you thousands in separate pieces of hardware. It's tremendous fun to use, works brilliantly and hasn't crashed once in all the time we've been using it. The MC2000...

Denon AH-D2000 headphones review

In the £200-300 price bracket, Denon's AH-D2000s are truly outstanding. Masses of detail and a sonically neutral, balanced sound make these superb reference cans

Sound quality ; Comfort ; Design ; Sonically balanced ; Terrific detail

Mid-range lacks warmth

Our one point to note is that we've heard warmer-sounding 'phones, so if this is an absolute be-all and end-all requirement, at least aim to try them out before you buy

These Denon's have a smooth, refined sound - maybe too smooth for some

Comfortable, good looks, great detail, smooth sound

Possibly too refined for some people

"The best headphones I've heard to date."

The unfortunate thing about these headphones is that they are too revealing of poor quality recordings. They have a fairly sweet disposition to musical sounds. They aren't unnecessarily harsh on decent sounds, but if a recording is just mediocre it...

The AH-D2000 has a wider range than any headphone or speaker system I have ever heard. From deepest bass to beyond the highest frequency I can hear, it can produce with clarity. Notably better sound than the Shure SH440 and Grado SR225i that I own.

They have a slight low frequency resonance in the semi-deep (less than 80 Hz) bass region that a few songs have hit, which makes it just barely noticeably louder than other frequencies. The AH-D2000 isn't always very kind to bad recordings.
