Humax DTR-T1010 review

It's only been eight months since Humax launched the UK's first YouView box - and now it's replacement is here. So what's new?

Good features ; Easy to setup and use ; Well-designed remote ; Choice of 500GB or 1TB capacities ; Classy fascia

Still no Wi-Fi or USB media playback ; Illuminated 4-way cursor control on front panel can't be dimmed ; slightly clunky jump between YouView and catch-up TV interfaces

Humax DTR-T1010 review

Our new favourite PVR thanks to the excellent YouView interface, but it's only a minor update to the previous model

We're big fans of YouView. It neatly and cleanly integrates on-demand and live TV into a simple interface. If you want a Freeview HD PVR, then YouView is the best type that you can get. Currently, the Humax HDR-T1010 is the best YouView PVR, making it...

Humax DTR-T1010

Revamped YouView box that blends online and broadcast TV.

Excellent operating system ; Terrific live and recorded picture quality ; Attractive new design

No built-in Wi-Fi ; No USB media playback or DLNA ; Identical spec to DTR-T1000

They’re joined by an optical digital audio output to send Dolby Digital Plus to a sound system; Scart, composite and analogue stereo outputs; another USB port; plus RF in and loopthrough.

Humax DTR-T1010

Best Freeview HD recorder, Awards 2013. If you want an easy way to watch on-demand TV, and you care about style, the Humax DTR-T1010 should be top

Excellent catch-up offerings ; Easy to use ; Good picture quality ; 500GB hard drive won’t fill up in a hurry

No built-in wi-fi

The Humax DTR-T1010 YouView box doesn’t go in for bells and whistles. You can’t stream content over your network, for example. Nor can you connect a USB stick or external hard drive to the USB ports (they’re marked ‘for future use’ only).
