Intel SSD 525 Review (240GB)

The mSATA SSD space has been heating up over the past year as Ultrabooks and other small form factor devices like Intel's NUC have continued to grow in popularity. While mostly a placeholder until M.2 (formerly NGFF ) SSDs show up on the market, mSATA...

I would still like to see Intel use more of its home grown controller technology in drives rather than relying on 3rd party controller vendors. Here's hoping that the technology used in the

Intel SSD 525 Series Full Capacity Roundup - Intel Sweeps mSATA

Using in a pfSense router / firewall as the system disk where having anything larger is completely pointless, glad these smaller SSDs are still available.

Great for my Media Server

I have this in my Intel NUC (Centrino) home media server. It is perfect for Win7 Ultimate, Plex, Filezilla and Dropbox. I made sure to turn off unneeded Windows features and compress the drive. The media is stored on an external 4TB Seagate HDD. RDP...

I recently have started to maintain Plex logs that are taking up space on the C: drive. The limited capacity makes for a monthly check-up on disc space a necessity. Metadata could cause a problem with disc space, depending on how much media is being...

Runs Hot - But No Issues

I bought this drive because of the validation and 5 year warranty. My application is in a passively cooled enclosure for a HTPC. The drive is used for OS and a minimal set of applications. The 60GB capacity is adequate for this purpose with Windows 7,...

Speedy ; 5 Year Warranty ; Arguably one of the best validated consumer drivers

Runs HOT in my application with no active cooling ; Temperature was also an issue when running the 525 series in Intel's NUC systems. Fix was to increase fan speed, add a heat sink to the drive and adjust the SSD bios to slow down the drive if the...

Low profile and fast. Does what it is intended to do. Safe up to 70°c

Naturally runs warm and has reached 80°c one time before the "temp governor" stepped in and performed some managment. Although it reached this temp, it remained stable... Quote from Intel: "The Intel SSD 525 Series drive has a safety feature for...

Works In Drobo 5N

I just popped this into my Drobo 5N and it is off and working it's magic. I lean towards Intel for their SSD quality and have never had any regrets ; This drive isn't officially listed on Drobo's site as compatible but I took a gamble and it paid off

None but I will report back if this changes
