ASUS MyPal A696

By Ross Catanzariti (goodgearguide.com.au)

GPS chipset, included navigational software, brushed metal finish, 3.5mm headphone jack, excellent battery life

GPS experience doesn't compare to dedicated portable units, Windows Mobile 5 rather than 6 on earlier units, bland design, heavy

The MyPal A696's GPS is handy, but the navigational experience isn't as satisfying or complete as the multitude of dedicated portable units on the market. What remains is a solid, yet unremarkable PDA.

It has been relatively quiet on the PDA front of late, but ASUS still believe...

Hand-held satnav you say? Yes please!

Asus MyPal A696

Asus' MyPal A696 satnav device is something of a triumph of style over content. In our book, this amounts to hardly a triumph at all.

The Asus My Pal A696 may be slim and sleek but its functionality isn't always quite up to snuff. Windows Mobile 6.0 will drive your multimedia and organisational software just fine, but in a hugely competitive market flooded with GPS enabled smartphones,

ASUS A696 3.5" Ultra Slim GPS PDA Sparkles with High Quality Feel

By Peter (newegg.com)

For $250 it was definitely worth it except for the warranty and Skype issues.

I bought this unit as an open box, so I can review the unit not the accessories. Battery life is about four hours. GPS has pretty good reception. It worked with the GPS software from the following companies - TOMTOM, GARMIN, IGO, MAPPOINT, as long as it i...

For some reason the bluetooth doesn't work and I was unable to fix it.. WI-FI has poor reception, but let's not forget that it is a PDA.

ASUS A696 3.5" Ultra Slim GPS PDA Sparkles with High Quality Feel

By ballengee (newegg.com)

I wanted a GPS device but wasn't sure which one so I opted for a PDA GPS allowing me to install whatever GPS software I wanted. I have been happy with this one. I've never used another brand or model so I can't compare it. I also plan to install music pla...

Very durable, good design. Comes with everything you need in the box including a 1GB SD card preloaded with the Destinator 6 application which I have reformatted and used in other ways.

Destinator 6 GPS software isn't great but it works.
