Zoom R16 Review

DAW systems are good but you don't always have a computer by when you feel the rush to record music. Mini studios were created for that purpose: they are practical solutions but not very comprehensive nor ergonomic. That's why Zoom launched the R16, an...

Zoom R16

This device is AMAZING. To the guy who said "it only has 16 tracks" or whatever... try the r24. It has 16 inputs, 16 simultaneous recording, 24 playback. Personally the r16 is overkill for my personal needs. I probably could've settled for the r8, and...

You cannot beat the amount of functionality at this price. Extremely functional stand alone recorder. Very sensitive stereo microphones. 44khz recording standalone. 92khz while hooked up as an audio interface. Just the fact that I have a control...

Only records at 44khz in stand alone mode. NOT REALLY A CON. If you want professional studio quality sound - your time and effort would be well spent in practicing your routine until you have mastered it and investing in renting a studio. if you need...

Portable Creativity

The scope of this device is a stand-alone digital multi-track recorder. To think that you would get a fully licensed version of DAW software is unrealistic. Again, this device is meant to be used sans computer. The trial software is just a bonus, as...

No need for a computer, or to learn complicated software. Record, Mix, Done! Controls my DAW software: Sonar 8 producer Very portable and not cumbersome at all. Sound quality is not colored by the device.

Would be better if it had 16 individual track channel controls, but not a big deal. Did not purchase from Newegg.

i was so excited until......

Why in the world would i want to have recording software that does not allow me to bounce my tracks to a single wave or mp3? with the included software, you need to purchase an additional dongle to get the program to work properly....major turn off!! I...

multi-track recording, cubase software, portable, easy to use interface

Does not come with a dongle that is needed to use full potential of recording software!!!!!!!

User review Zoom R16 by Kierkes on Audiofanzine

My only hangup on this unit is that its preamps are not the most interesting things in the world. They do not drive a whole lot of gain to anything, so more esoteric microphones are not an option w...
