Areca ARC-1160 ( ARC-1160 ) Storage controller (RAID)

Does what it says, and is easy to configure and set up. I used it as a RAID 6 with 10x500GB disks in Fedora Core 7.

This is probably a critique of the SATA cable connector, but when plugging cables along the back side of the board, it's easy for them to slide out, especially when they are stacked one on top of another. I thought I had a bad disk once, but it was...

Superfast, beats 3ware cards, search for reviews through google.

Linux kernel does not include the driver so you need to add it by hand on installation if you want to run the OS from the disks attached to the controller.
