A real workhorse, with no jams and a great scanner

I have had this unit for 3 years and have never had a problem with it. I have put more than 15,000 copies through it. I am on the third set of toner cartridges on it. It does a better job than inkjet printers and is less expensive to operate. The pros...

Very good print quality. The scanner does an excellent job both flat bed and document feed. Cartridge replacement is straight forward . Print quality is very good on VIVID setting. The flip down paper tray is convenient. Excellent network unit

It curls paper. Heavier paper curl is a problem when doing two side work. Envelopes usually come out wrinkled. The unit runs quite warm. Paper tray could be a lot larger

For the price, this printer offers good value.

Stay away from card stock and this workhorse will deliver the goods.

Virtually trouble free performance. Replacement ink costs considerably less compared to Xerox's offerings

Doesn't work well with card stock. Paper curls too much. If you have to print 2 sides, you'll need to back roll the card stock and MAYBE the paper won't jam. Color is muted when set to normal print quality but that can be fixed by selecting "vivid

Garbage Plastic Fantastic

Complete lack of interest or support from Brother.

Cheap initial price

Sold 2 and both had problems within a year. Terrible brother dealer support. Customer support line is expensive. Consumables expensive. Parts expensive

Curls Paper & Color is Bland

It prints really hot and curls the paper. Color copies are not exact. There are better printers out there. I do not recommend it.

Cheap, small and it doesn't have many paper jams. The ink cartridges are about $50 each and it needs four (yellow, ceylon, magenta, black). They seem to last a fair amount of time with moderate use. The warm-up doesn't take too long

Color is bland. It curls the paper, even if I buy "non-curling" paper. I do not recommend it

Brother Printer Belt Unit

Searched the web and could not find a better price. It is a genuine Brother part and gives me more confidence than the compatible products.

VALUE RELATES TO USE /VOLUME

First let me say I've had mine for about 2 years and have not had any problems. I had VISTA originally and am now using WINDOWS 7. The online Brothers site has a download update for Windows 7. Startup time is long, so this system is not the best for...

My First Laser Multifunction Network Brother Product.

I'll cut to the chase, this thing is awesome. works as advertised, and exceeded expectation. Also, at the price I got it here on Amazon, it could not be beat. (I have a stick and believe me I tried).

Product Specifications

The next generation color laser Multi-Function Center (MFC) for Small and Medium Business (SMB) users DCP-9040CN busts the myth among business owners that these are too expensive to own and maintain. Leveraging on its own proprietary print engine technology, Brother's revolutionary Color Laser MFCs (3-in-1, 5-in-1 and 6-in-1) aim to redefine business color printing by offering business owners total control over their top three concerns namely data security, cost of purchase and operating costs. Brother's range of color laser printers allows users to print high quality monochrome documents even when the color toner cartridges run out. This further demonstrates Brother's deep understanding of the needs of today's SMBs. In addition, Brother's high-yield toners ensure users achieve the most value out of their consumables as well as one of the lowest cost per page for both color and monochrome printing. Ideal for the office environment, each color laser MFCs is equipped with the Lock Color Usage feature giving corporate administrators the ability to restrict color print usage by user. Users are required to enter a password to print color documents. This feature enables business owners to maintain control against employee usage abuse. Bearing in mind that office space is precious, Brother developed the horizontal tandem engine to give each model a more compact and lower profile. Its full frontal operation adds to the convenience of changing the consumables or loading of paper. In addition, business users wanting to print documents and images directly from USB media devices can do so from built-in USB interface at the front of the printers.
