Brother HL-2130 review

The Brother HL-2130's graphics performance could be slightly better, and it's not the cheapest monochrome laser printer in terms of running costs. But its crisp text, small size and low price mean it's still worth a gander.

Excellent text quality ; Low price ; Easy to set up ; Small footprint

Some banding on grey fills ; Not as cheap to run as some competitors

The Brother HL-2130 may not offer the last word in print quality, and it's not the cheapest laser printer in the long term. But its petite design, fast print speed and low price tag all work heavily in its favour. For those with less demanding...

Brother HL-2130 review

The Brother HL-2130 is a straightforward mono laser printer at a sub-£100 price, short on frills but relatively high on value.

The Brother HL-2130 isn’t rich in features, and its ability to print graphics is limited. However, if you’re after a straightforward text-churner, the Brother is fast and extremely effective. Given that it's available on the street for not much more...

Brother HL-2130

Brother's entry-level mono laser printer provides many of the things people are looking for in a fast text printer. Can graphics print stand up?

Fast print for class ; Linux driver link from setup app ; 250-sheet paper tray and multi-purpose slot

Quite pricey to run, compared with rivals ; Blotchy greyscale print ; Hard to distinguish mid-grey tones

This is a well conceived, entry-level mono laser printer for use in a small or home office. It's quick and quiet and produces good quality print, though it's not the cheapest of its peers to run. As much at home connected to a Windows, OS X or Linux...

A Mono Laser Printer : Brother HL-2130

As it had provided me with excellent service over a number of years, I was only too pleased to grant my laser printer a short break as I checked out a new arrival from Brother.

Taking up the bottom portion of this box is the paper input tray that can hold up to 250 sheets of paper. Positioned just above the paper tray is a second paper input option in the form of a wide mouth-like opening. This can be used when you need to...

Feed up with ink jet cartridges

I've always used ink jet printers and found that when a cartridge is empty (such as the colour one) I was unable to print in black, which was extremely frustrating. Whilst I still have an ink jet printer which is necessary for colour, most of my...

Brilliant !

Having had a black and white/colour printer that eats cartridges at £10 a throw, this is a joy. It printed off my 20-chapter novel the first day without hiccup - quietly, efficiently and effortlessly (on my part). My last printer clunked and clicked...

Cost effective

This printer has saved me so much money, I have went back to uni and am constantly printing out things. I haven't yet had to change the cartridge, whereas if I was still using my inkjet printer I would have replaced the ink at least twice by now.
