Brother MFC-420cn

The 420cn's combination of features and compact design—at 6.5 by 15.3 by 17.8 inches (HWD)—makes it a good fit for most home and small offices. One potential issue, however, is the limited paper handling (only a 100-sheet capacity maximum). If you...

Small size. Rich feature set. Network port. Automatic document feeder. Prints directly from memory cards. High-quality photos. Scans and faxes over network

Slow performance. Limited paper capacity, at 100 sheets standard and maximum

With relatively slow performance and a 100-sheet paper capacity, the Brother MFC-420cn is aimed at users who don't print a lot of pages. But it offers maximum functionality—printing, scanning, faxing, and copying—in a minimal amount of space and at a...

Perfect AIO for occasional home use.

Compact, networkable, fine print & scan quality. I've had mine for 3 yrs with no troubles

Quality of photo prints could be better, but this isn't bad for an AIO

I liked mine so much, I bought another for my Dad!

I am a low volume user: a few photos, birthday party invitations, resumes, school papers, occasional interesting articles and preservable emails. I liked this so much the first year I had it, when my Dad needed a printer I got him the same one. Each...

Easy Hookup. Network ready. My 80+ year old Dad can send faxes with it ; I can print wirelessly from any laptop or desktop computer in the house(s)

Won't run any functions if any ink cartridges are out ; No scanning, faxing, or black-only printing at all ; That stinks when the stores are closed and you have a paper to print out for college ; But probably all printers do that

Great while it worked

I had this machine for 3 years, during which time it was great. Inexpensive to buy, cheap ink, great features. Then after three years it died. Tried to revive it but Brother customer service said there was a mechanical failure--it just refused to...

Inexpensive, takes third party ink, scans, prints, faxes, copies. Small footprint

Cheap build quality

WILL SWALLOW INK LIKE A FISH DOES WATER!

this unit will drink ink like there is no tomorrow...STAY AWAY FROM BROTHER PRINTERS. As if the operating cost of its ink replacement wasnt bad enough, it died RIGHT after its warranty period was over... telling me there is no magenta ink cartridge...

Looks good on a desk

INK CONSUMPTION, SLOW AS HELL, INK CONSUMPTION. DIED JUST AS IT WAS PASSED ITS WARRANTY PERIOD MUST HAVE A SELF-DISTRUCT TIMER ON IT

Great For Routine Printing

I do a lot of graphics/photo work and have found that the high quality OEM ink for my two Epson printers was way too costly for routine (non-photo) printing. Hoping to find a viable workaround, I went in search of a decent quality printer that would...

Decent print & scan quality for day-to-day use (web pages, docs, etc), dirt cheap non-oem ink available, good quality doc feeder, downloadable updated "Control Center" software much improved vs original CD-ROM, easy to configure as a network printer

Less than state-of-the-art photo printing and scan quality, very slow printing in normal, fine and photo mode, much noisier than average
