Brother MFC-7440N

The Brother MFC-7440N prints quickly and is fairly inexpensive to sustain, but we simply can't get behind a printer with poor quality graphics, significant hardware defects, and a boring design.

Small footprint for a multifunction unit, Accurate character recognition, Fast text printing, Low cost per page, Decent quality black and white scans

Poor quality graphics prints, Unattractive design, Cramped paper output tray, Slow scanning speed, Less than average amount of internal memory

Brother MFC 7440N review: Brother MFC 7440N

We normally don't see a lot of multifunction laser printers, mostly because inkjets are simply better for printing high-quality scans and photos. However, the printer industry recently started to push laser multifunction printers to the market, arguing...

A step in the right direction

The Brother MFC-7440N is a capable mono laser multifunction that suffers from several flaws which may impact on its use in offices. It costs $100 more than the MFC-7340, but the addition of the Ethernet port is a boon for productivity.

Ethernet port, good print quality, consistent print speeds

No duplex, poor image scan quality, relatively pricey

Brother MFC-7440N review

A fully-featured and user-friendly MFD

Speedy printing ; Well-specified

Noisy ; Steep price ; Feels cheap

Despite some nifty features, we don't feel this MFD does enough to justify its considerable price tag

Broken out of the box

Will not purchase another Brother product again due to their lack of customer service.

Have purchased several others without a problem

Printer was defective out of the box. Brother customer support is horrendous. It'd be nice to speak to someone in America but that is not an option. Option from them was to receive a refurbished printer

Good Printer

I would still buy this product again even with the problems.

Prints quickly and you can get a lot of pages per toner cartridge compared to ink. The printer was very easy to install and has been much better than any ink jet printer we have ever used. Normal printing has not yet produced a paper jam

After a couple of weeks the auto feeder copy mechanism was leaving black verticle lines on the copies for some unknown reason. It stopped on its own and now has started again. Printing envelopes is a real hassle as you have to feed them one at a time...
