Brother's $180 MFC-790CW color inkjet multifunction printer has a tempting array of goodies, but offers lackluster performance. Despite its aspirations, the MFC-790CW can't compete with other machines in its price range, such as the HP OfficeJet J4680.

Brother's MFC-790CW is a solid multifunction device for the home office. Businesses that need to print color documents like manuals and guidebooks will enjoy the relative speed and affordability of the MFC-790CW.

For an affordable printer with features, this is great!

 

Great Design ; ADF=God of printing ; Fax, Copying, Printing & Scanning ; The Scanning feature can scan multiple images to your computer without any mechanical work (it does it over wireless) ; Wi-Fi ; Bluetooth ; Ink cartridge levels are acceptable

That annoying beeping noise it does every 4 days or so really pisses me off ; Printing and scanning is somewhat slow (although significantly faster than my previous printer) ; Has trouble receiving fax papers ; Occasional 'freezing

Brother printers are bad.

 

The Brother lines of printers and All-in-Ones are terrible. Products do not function mechanically. Service is terrible. Kind of "Brother" you never want to have.

Starts out great w/good quality, speed and pricing

After a few weeks, nothing but trouble. Print quality drops. Multiple ink cartridges dry out quickly. Touch screen never works. Printer spends more time beeping about a problem, than it does printing

Great Printer until you change ink

 

Support site has latest firmware and drivers for Windows 7. No issues with install or setup.

Great printer, good software and excellent support from Brother. The product seems to have issues with the ink nozzles (see cons)
