Brother MFC-8480DN

Coming up with a winning design for a monochrome laser all-in-one (AIO) for a small office is easy. Start with a fast print engine. Next, make sure the AIO can print, scan, and fax over a network as well as work as a standalone copier and fax machine....

Fast. High-quality output for a mono laser across the board. Prints, scans, faxes over network

Doesn't scan in duplex (both sides of a page)

The Brother MFC-8480DN stands out as a winner, with fast print speed, reasonably high-quality output, and a wealth of all-in-one features.

Great Printer!

Was tired of buying ink after the cartridges would dry out. This is a much better option. The scans look great, print outs look great, it's on my home network and accessible to all of my PC's and my MBP! Not a bad buy for ~$300

Fast laser printer with great results ; Networked ; Large capacity tray

Setup can be complicated. I ended up mapping a network drive from my WHS to my desktop for "network" scanning. I never figured out the whole FTP to my server. No biggie, we don't scan often and when we do it works great

Great Small Office Machine

First thing I bought was extra RAM. Recommend considering price of RAM when purchasing if more than a small office, collating eats a lot of memory depending on how many pages. Wish it could accept more RAM, but on the positive side it cost me less to...

I run a law office and before purchasing read tons of reviews, almost all good to great. Purchased the 8860DN 5 years ago and which is basically the same machine from what I've seen at the OD store, except toner/drum cartridges and addition of USB port...

When using the MP tray for envelopes it makes creases at one end just about every time and depending on the number or brand of envelope it sometimes jams. But not very often. Make sure to get the large size toner. The toner cartridges appear to be the...

Great Machine

Tru duplex printers dont sell for $400. Minus 1 egg for misleading details. The TN-550 and TN-580 toners work on the MFC-8480dn even though it says they wont.

Last one lasted 3 years at 250 copys/prints a day (MFC-8460N)

Sadly, this is a manual duplex machine (if that makes any sense), which is the same as a simplex printer. In other words, it's NOT duplex capable

Budget Operational Expense

We've had this machine for 2 months now. Our office is about low-medium volume for copying and faxing. We have had to replace the toner cartridge 2x already. First cartridge was probably not

Finally - not a piece of junk!

I have worked from a home office for more than a decade. I have had most rands - most recently was a Canon 5770. I got tired of the Win 7 incompatibility, and being unable to scan via TCP/IP. I had one of the original MFC from Brother many years ago,...

Windows 7 Compatible ; You can do everything via the network ; Remote configuration and monitoring ; Has an on/off switch ; Can scan up to 8.5x14 ; Scanning software does not suck ; Fast printing, but warmup time is a bit long ; Software behaves well -...

Tall for its foot print ; Warmup time for print is longer than other models ; Software needs to run on the PC all the time if you want the features ; Pricing is variable - It can be had for < $300

Solid Printer

I retired all my dells and lexmarks MFC printers for this Brother. This printer is solid. Prints quick. User friendly use controls. Rare paper jams

When out of ink it wont print and no alert when its low. So you must always have a spare toner for emergencies

BROTHER ROCKS

Best part is that starter & OEM cartridges can be refilled with tonner kits. YOU WILL SAVE MONEY

Have 5 of these units onboard several of our SHIPS and pennies for pennies /print for print this is the most efficient MFC you can buy

Does not come in dual voltage 110V/220V

Good Item for Value

The 1st machine we received did not scan properly (image was blurry and not clear). Our tech worked with Customer Service and was able to get a replacement in which arrived the day after.

Energy Saver, prints quickly and double-sided to save paper, easy to use ; Printing: 5 Eggs, Faxing: 5 Eggs, Copies: 3 Eggs, Scanning: 3 Eggs

Scanning in color is very slow, cannot scan double sided, the scanning software is not the greatest. Also you can copy to create a double-side document but unable to scan a double sided document

Professional Quality

The unit itself is very well made. $ for $, I feel like the money paid for this unit was well spent. It's has the quality, functionality and smoothness of much more expensive units. This thing is in a class of its own in my opinion.

Fully functional duplex network all-in-one unit. This is a true network device. There are too many "pros" to list, so I'll try to get to the meat of what many people may be interested in knowing

No cons to list really, so I'll explain a few things to be aware of when considering this printer
