Brother MFC-8860DN

The Brother MFC-8860DN ($499.99 list) monochrome laser AIO (all-in-one) is targeted at small workgroups in relatively large offices. But it's also a near-perfect fit for busy small offices or home offices. The MFC-8860DN delivers fast print speeds and...

Fast. Prints, scans to, and faxes from PCs over a network. Standalone copier and fax. Scans to e-mail

Text quality is a smidge below par, although not enough to be a serious issue

The Brother MFC-8860DN delivers fast printing and all the right features for a small office, home office, or workgroup, despite less-than-perfect text quality.

The MFC-8860DN is a jack of all trades and has a number of excellent features - above all it is capable of almost anything including printing, scanning, faxing and copying.

Impressive speed, Long list of features, Built in wired Ethernet, Automatic document feeder (ADF)

Shaded graphics printing

Solid multi-function, great price, few flaws

Warms-up quick and prints even faster. Web-interface makes configuration easy. The duplexing auto-feeder conveniently scans to PDF and uploads directly to your FTP server. Small-footprint drivers are available. Price is unbeatable

As others have noted, this thing draws about 10 amps when it's warming up. This was causing my UPS to trip off whenever I printed something. Fortunately, the included power cable is 10' long. Coupled with a 6' three-prong extension cord and I was able...

Has its flaws as noted by others

I bought this a few years ago. It has not mechanically died on me, but I don't print more than 30 sheets a day. My circuit breaker pops frequently due to the MONSTEROUS energy this thing uses. Paper jams Way Too Frequently even when fluffing and under...

Numerous printing options, legal sized, long toner life

Uses an enormous amount of electricity, Paper jams are frequent, loud performance, bloated Brother software, Runs very hot... heat curls paper yuck

Horrible

Great Features, great price, and great toner price

It will break, I have 2 of these in my office, and both have broke, sent one to repair, that took 2 months to complete, the repair facility said it had trouble getting Brother to send the correct parts to fix it. It has a lot of problems with loading...

Disappointed

The 8460N is around $ 100 less than this MC, and has similar features (ppm is the only noticeably difference). I bought this because I thought 100 more should make this a more reliable machine. You pay for what you get, right? :( . Failed.

Scanner is great; I've 4 computers, and can easily assign which computer to receive. Printer speed is superb. Takes only few seconds to warm up

This printer gets hot so quick. I purchased this hoping it would endure heavy printing (I print lots of documents for a nonprofit organization), and it failed me. You can only feed envelops in 1 way, in either tray. And it has to be cooled down after...

Decent All-in-One

Print, copy fast. Takes little to warm up. No need to configure networking; simply install the software

Installing software takes way too long. Disappointed that this printer does not come with an Ethernet nor USB cable. Seems silly for a high price printer

Another score for Brother

YZ's review is not correct when he says you can't install just the driver without the entire suite. I can't blame him for thinking that, because Brother buried the "Printer Driver Only" menu item under the Install Optional Software menu on the...

This printer does everything automatically that I had to do manually wioth my previous printer. Duplex printing, duplex faxing, scan to any PC on my network

Application suite takes a while to install, and you need to install it on every computer that you wish to have full capability (e.g.,scan-to-PC, fax-from-PC)

MFC-8860DN LASER MFC 30PPM

It's a laser, you don't have to change ink cartidges as often. And it's fast.

MFC-8860DN LASER MFC 30PPM

Overall this machine is awesome and does everything I need to do, quickly, and more. Just wish I could have afforded a color laser printer. My budget would not allow it at this time.

1. Sends and receives faxes well. 2. copies pages very well(especially with teh auto sheet feeder) 3. Have not used the scan except to just play. So I cannot really say how well it can work. 4. I gave the graphics a five because I haven't printed any...

I have yet to figure out how to turn off the fax as the default and it interferes with the regular phone. (I suppose I need a separate line for the fax)
