Brother MFC-9420CN

The Brother MFC-9420CN color laser AIO offers a full set of print, scan, copy, and fax features.

Fast performance for the price. Prints, scans, and faxes over network. Includes 35-page automatic document feeder.

Actual monochrome print speed is a bit slower than we'd expect from the rated speed.

Brother MFC-9420CN (3mice)

The Brother MFC-9420CN offers most of the functions you'd want in an all-in-one, but its design often gets in the way. We'd trade some of its admirable speed for better print quality and ease of use.

Fast ; copious fax features ; includes automatic document feeder

Confusing control panel ; mediocre quality printing graphics ; potentially annoying network software ; no duplex capability ; inadequate documentation

Smaller offices, take note: the MFC-9420CN cannot be tucked discreetly into a corner. It's big, heavy (76.7 pounds), and loud, emitting distinct clunking noises during power-up and printing. You'll need nearly three feet of height clearance to raise...

Bigger does not mean better

Once it finally gets going, it prints a steady stream and does ok. It has a few printing problems though, depending on what program you print from. I would not buy another, nor would I recommend this to anyone.

Decent color for regular paper. Wouldn't use it for photos or anything

SLOW!! I mean dead slow. We have two of these and they both act the same way. It takes 90 seconds for this thing to warm up and print one page...we timed it. If not used for 10 minutes, you have to wait for it to warm up again. It's also REALLY loud....

Questionable purchase...

The major question I have about this product is the incredibly high cost of consumables used in the printing process (~500$ OPC belt and ~500$ fuser,) which, according a number of other sources, require somewhat quick replacement (60,000 images on OPC,...

Initially out of the box, having worked with other Brother MFC's before, as I am a computer consultant by trade, setup was rather simple and straightforward, both by USB and network interface. The initial speed is great, spitting out b/w prints...

Roughly 3 weeks after owning the printer, and using primarily to print out a large number of color prints from a vacation, the problems began. The coloration of the printer began to shift to represent a completely different color set in comparison to...

brother MFC Series MFC-9420CN MFC / All-In-One Up to 31 ppm Color Laser Printer

This is an update to earlier.

It is a good copier for sure. Good speed. It's friggin cheap. When it works, it works fantastic

I've had 2 of these for over a month now at different locations and both are having same issues. When printing, scanning, faxing, anything that requires data to/from computer sometimes they get stupid. A power-reset is required to get it to print some...
