Brother MFC-J6510DW

Probably the single most attention-grabbing fact about the Brother MFC-J6510DW ($250 street) is how much it delivers for the price. One of only a few inkjet printers that can print at up to tabloid size (11 by 17 inches), it's also one of the most...

Prints and scans at up to tabloid size (11 by 17 inches). Automatic document feeder. Duplex (two-sided) printing

Only one paper tray means you can't keep letter- and tabloid-size paper loaded at the same time

In addition to both printing and scanning at up to tabloid size, the Brother MFC-J6510DW faxes over a network and works as a standalone copier and fax machine.

2 purchased; neither works correctly; awful support

Bought 2 of these in Jan., 2011 to be the primary all-in-ones for two of our offices, one in NC, one in SC. NC one worked ok for a few months (although it badly wrinkled all envelopes, which was frustrating), then started jamming non-stop. Could not...

Printed nicely while it worked

1 never worked quite right ; 1 broke completely after a few months ; customer support has completely failed ; been without a printer for TEN DAYS now ; even when the 1 machine worked for a while, it wrinkled envelopes badly

Print Quality fair. Ink Cartridges often clogged

Worth Every Penny

Brother has proved to me that they can make an excellent product, I've pushed this unit onto many other artists and illustrators... everyone of them has thanked me for letting them know about product.

A3 high resolution scanner, pretty speedy scanning a full color (24bit) 11x17 @ 600 x 600dpi over wireless connection (avg about 23 seconds via twain in photoshop.) I've never experienced connectivity issues over wireless when printing from Desktop, 2...

Single sheet feeder is a little tricky, sometimes it will misfeed thicker papers. To solve this apply a little pressure on the paper when inserting into single sheet feeder, the feeder will recognize the paper and pull it in a little bit. Once it's...

Good and Bad

Prints 11x17 which I need in my work ; Print quality is good. Ink usage is reasonable and print cartridge replacements are loa priced

Constantly needs print head cleaning ; Start a new print job, the first copies print OK, then suddenly line start to appear and fade out. You must stop the printing and run the cleaning for the heads at least once, sometimes twice before restarting

Scanner Light Is Too Bright

Bought this for the primary reason of using the large scanner bed to scan artwork. Unfortunately, the scanner light is way too bright and washes out the colors to the point they are uncorrectable, even in Photoshop.

Too Many Pauses and Delays

I was completely frustrated by the amount of time I had to wait when I switched to Copy mode, or inserted the one piece of paper in the rear feed. Going to Copy mode produced a "WAIT" message of ... 30 sec maybe, and inserting a paper in the feeder...
