Fast and capable, the MG5220 is a good match for a family or a home office with basic scanning needs.

Canon Pixma MG5220 -- Back to School (or Work)

Canon has revamped its multifunction device lineup and the Pixma MG5220 is the first product to show off the new look.

We get a little dizzy trying to follow Canon's multifunction device lineup. But we can tell you they are all terrific printers and great scanners with mature firmware to do things like read from and write to the card reader and handle WiFi and...

Review: Canon Pixma MG5220 multifunction printer

Fast and capable, the MG5220 is a good match for a family or a home office with basic scanning needs.

The Pixma MG5220 is outstandingly simple to install, whether by USB or wireless. The Canon installation software even automatically adds the printer on a Mac—a rarity. The 2.4-inch color LCD flips up for easy viewing, the menus are simple to navigate,...

Canon Pixma MG5220

Targeted to graphics enthusiasts, the MG5220 stresses print quality and photo-centric features over speed and business-oriented extras.

Excellent print quality; five ink cartridges for superior color; duplex-printing; user-friendly design; photo-friendly features

Low-capacity paper output tray; higher-than-average color print costs; limited envelope handling

If you’re looking for a relatively inexpensive all-in-one that excels in printing photos, the MG5220 is an excellent buy. The print quality is first-rate, especially with photos. Canon's latest print engine is considerably faster than the one found in...

Canon PIXMA MG5220

The Canon Pixma MG5220 is a good option for an all-in-one printer, especially with its incredibly fast printing speeds for a mid-range Wi-Fi all-in-one printer in its class. Although it doesn't have a fax option, it's still a good option since you can...

This Canon Pixma model’s printing speeds are fast for a mid-range all-in-one printer

There isn’t a built-in fax machine

Overall, it’s an affordable, fast and reliable all-in-one printer option.

Consumer review by:

Great quality but unbelievably high ink costs.

The printer is an affordable purchase for amateur photographers or small business owners, easy to set up, and a manageable size. Print quality is fine on regular paper, but stellar on high quality photo paper. Canon paper is not required, though...

Affordable unit. Incredible print quality. Easy set-up

Difficult navigation. Poor scanning. Expensive ink

Simply the single worst printer purchased in > 20 years

It says something that I created this account for the sole purpose of writing this review. I've never written a bad review anywhere before- but this printer is SO BAD, that I wanted to save someone else from the purchase.

Document scanning quality good (NOT photo!), WiFi - mbut connection is S-L-O-W (No it is not my hardware!)

Print quality on docs (even HQ)& pix EXTREMELY poor ; Ink cost per print > 3x any comprable printer ; Tiny ink cartridges & one (of the 5!)is almost always running low or out ; EXTREMELY S-L-O-W speed (I make coffee when duplexing a multi page doc)
