Canon Pixma MP460 review

Canon's Pixma MP460 has a sleeker grey and white design than the cheaper MP180, but that's not all you get for the extra £16.

It's certainly worth spending £16 more to get the MP460 rather than the MP180, if only for its better screen and easier menu system. However, Canon's far superior Pixma MP510 costs only £1 more, and it is a far better buy than either of these.

Canon Pixma MP460

The Canon Pixma MP460 is a minor update to the MP450. We still like its print quality but were disappointed by its scans. Still, it's one of our top choices for a photo-centric budget all-in-one.

Inexpensive ; Media card slots ; PictBridge port ; IrDA port ; Excellent print quality

Colour-handling problems in scans ; Limited paper-handling options

Canon provides a one-year warranty for the MP460 all-in-one, as well as phone support. You can extend the warranty to three years for AU$99. You can also get tech support via e-mail, and Canon says it will respond within 24 hours. Canon's site has...

Canon Pixma MP460

You can expect to see rather a lot of Canon's 2007 range in future editions of PC Advisor. The MP460 is the latest addition to its line of MFDs (multifunction devices), and its looks are very much of the minute, the curved casing and glossy grey finish...

Fully featured and sleek, the Canon certainly looks the part, and its text printing and scanning facilities are very competent. However, it lags behind the cheaper HP Photosmart C3180 when it comes to colour graphics reproduction.

Great Value

Fast, clean, and crisp copies, prints and scans.

Only 4 eggs because the printer sounds a little loud and violent when feeding paper.

quality build, good looks, and its actually worth more

clear deep black, beautiful colors, better scanning than the Brother MFC 240-c i've owned, color LCD screen, Memory Slot and PicBridge capability.

Canon PIXMA MP460

Other than its massive size, this printer is a great value. It cost the same as my 2 previous HP printers, but prints much faster than either of them. The detail on photos is OK, but the colors really stand out. Replacement ink isn't that expensive...

PictBridge, memory card reader, LCD screen for previewing photos, fast printing, vibrant color photos, great performance for the price

This printer is huge, I couldn't fit it on my desk. You can only fit one type of paper in the loader at one time, but that doesn't matter to me
