Canon Pixma MP520 review: Canon Pixma MP520

Canon Pixma MP520

Great print quality; decent print speeds; two input sources; memory card slots and PictBridge port; manual control of photo edits.

PictBridge port doesn't support storage devices; slowish scan speeds; control panel doesn't offer an easy way to transfer images from a memory card to your PC.

The Canon Pixma MP520 doesn't offer all the bells and whistles found on other budget all-in-ones, but it's a solid device that does the basics right while delivering best-in-class quality.

Canon PIXMA MP520 review

Inexpensive and simple, the MP520 manages to tick most of the right boxes

Crisp pictures ; Quick ; Inexpensive to buy and run

Lacklustre photo prints

Quality documents but poor photos

Canon Pixma MP520 review

The PIXMA MP520 has a smart-looking chassis with panels that can be opened to reveal its controls, a 2 inch colour display, and memory card slots.

Pay now, save later. Brilliant prints and scans make it a winner.

Throw in a scroll-wheel on an inkjet Photo MFD and you have a Canon PIXMA MP520.

Good print quality, memory card slots, decent looks

Below average speeds, no fax

Canon Pixma MP520

Fast, great quality prints at a decent price – the only real competition for the other Canon

The major difference is in the number of cartridges. While the MP610 has separate pigment and dye-based blacks, the MP520 sticks to the pigmented one. This means text is just as thick, solid and legible, but the MP520 can’t quite match the quality of...

Perfect

I purchased the open box version with the express purpose of printing my own wedding invitations, and not only did it not have a problem with the non-standard paper size, but they look BEAUTIFUL. Printed over 130, and the ink isn't even at half on any...

Great photo-quality prints, cheaper than other equivalent printers, doesn't hog ink (which is cheaper than other brands, also). High quality prints don't bleed or smear

Duplex printing would be nice on this model, but I certainly don't need it

Fast, Economical

I own an MP830, MP610 (my fav), and now this MP520. Each has varied feature sets. All share CLI-8 & PGI-5 individual ink catridges. This is very important; saves money and a lot of hassles trying to keep enough of the right cartridge in stock at home.

Fast at this price. Works well shared on a network. Really nice print quality. Copies are simple and not much effort. Terrific printer for high school student and family. And quite a deal from Newegg

No duplex printing, but not a deal breaker

Canon PIXMA MP520 2178B002 Up to 30 ppm 4800 x 1200 dpi InkJet MFC / All-In-One Color Printer

Its a printer that works and works fairly fast, all you really need in printer

Software install takes up a good chunk of room, it doesn't have network capabilities
