Canon Pixma 700 Runs Out Of Ink FAST

The Pixma 700 all-in-one needs to remain connected to an electrical outlet with a steady current at all times. If the Pixma 700 is connected to a power strip or surge protector, and the power strip is clicked off after daily use, then by default the printer will do an automatic self-clearning once turned back on. This uses ink RAPIDLY. There is no way to shut down the default, according to Canon Technical Support. All Canon printers have this built-in default cleaning. It's too expensive for me. Think I'll go back to HP printers that have treated me nicely over the years. While I like the layout of the Canon, I can't afford the expense.

Easy to use

Slow operation

Pixma MX700

The Canon Pixma MX700 color inkjet multifunction printer offers strong overall performance for a comfortably midrange price. While no single multifunction unit could satisfy everyone--I dislike certain aspects of this model's print quality and design,...

Fast; impressive photos on plain paper High-capacity input trays

Confusing paper-tray design Orangey cast to photos on special paper

Pumpkin-colored people aside, the Pixma MX700 is, overall, one of the strongest multifunction packages I've seen to date. It stuffs a lot of functions into a fairly user-friendly package and offers scads of software to help you along

Canon Pixma MX700

The Canon Pixma MX700 is a double threat of a multifunction inkjet, combining high-quality output with fast task speeds. Though it lacks some options that would make it even more compelling as an office workhorse--advanced fax features and a duplexer,...

Fast print and copy speeds; great print and scan quality; ADF; two paper sources; preview LCD; memory card slots and PictBridge port.

Scan speeds are just OK; lacks advanced fax features; PictBridge port can't be used for USB flash or HDD devices; no duplexer.

The Canon Pixma MX700 is a great choice for small offices with a wide variety of print tasks. This inkjet multifunction beats out the competition with a winning combination of features and performance.

Review: Canon PIXMA MX700 Office All-In-One Printer

Earlier this year I reviewed the Canon Pixma MP530. This printer was very capable and produced great prints and fast scans, but it only worked with one computer at a time. This time around we are looking at the MX700 which has the ability to connect to...

Canon Pixma MX700 All-In-One Printer Review

This (almost) no-compromise all-in-one printer is an excellent choice if you don't need high-speed printouts.

Excellent print/copy quality; solid fax functions; good software bundle; Ethernet port makes sharing all functions easy

Somewhat slow printing, particularly of photos

Double your display real estate by adding a second monitor. It's a snap: Here's how

versatile and solid performance for cheap

definitely recommend this printer...printing is definitely its strongest point. It will produce great prints, but ink will cost ya.

cheap, very fast, quality build, easy menus, high quality prints, scans manage pages at once with the paper feeder, network capabilities are great

ink is expensive and runs out very fast, scanner software is a bit awkward, color LCD is poor quality

"Highly recommended"

The reliability of Canon printers and their overall ease of use far outweighs any cons. Mine came from Costco. Normal price was $186. I got mine for $136. An excellent multifunction machine for only a little more than a single function printer.

Very reliable; menu display easy to read and use; separate tanks for each color; twain interface easy to use with lots of options.

Insufficient paper capacity, specs are about 40 pages but you can put about 60-70 in. Loading of paper is definitely not as easy as it could be. Paper in the outfeed obscures front tray and is in the way if paper runs out during a run.

Product Specifications

This networkable 5-in-1 is all business, able to quickly produce beautiful photos and bold, professional-quality text. You can print photos right from compatible memory cards - selecting and enhancing images on the 1.8" color LCD display - or directly from a digital camera or DV camcorder. The Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) holds up to 30 originals, and two paper trays can store both plain and photo paper. You'll achieve up to Super G3 fax speed in color and B&W, and the expanded memory can store 40 speed dial codes and receive 100 incoming pages. Copies will be remarkably true to the originals, and when scanning photos you'll produce impressive 2400-dpi results, with vibrant 48-bit color depth.
