Review: Canon Pixma MX850 multifunction printer

By Brian Chen (macworld.com)

The Pixma MX850 is Canon's all-in-one scanner, copier, fax machine, and ink-jet printer built for the small office or home office. The MX850 prints impressively crisp, legible text that's comparable to laser quality. Add to that speedy performance, ...

Speedy ; user-friendly ; superior text quality comparable to lasers ; includes duplexer and automatic document feeder

Scan resolution is slightly fuzzy and jagged ; some colors look muted in scan output

The MX850 is a bit bulky, at 31 pounds, but it sets up in a snap. The printer uses a five-color ink system, which includes the four traditional dye-based colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) and a special pigment-based black to achieve ...

Canon Pixma MX850

By M. David Stone (pcmag.com)

The Canon Pixma MX850 delivers all the right features for a small office, home office, or home use.

Fast performance. Automatic document feeder. Network connector. Standalone copier and fax.

Unusual approach to network setup. Full-page graphics tend to make plain paper curl.

Equally capable at home and office tasks, the Canon Pixma MX850 is a good fit for the home or small office, or in the dual role of home and home-office all-in-one.

At this point, I approach every new Canon AIO with high...

Canon Pixma MX850

By Binde Rai (washingtonpost.com)

The MX850 had its ups in the tray, menu and fax departments. Canon offers dual input trays with the MX850 and also three choices on how you'd prefer to use them, which makes it easy to switch from one paper type to another. The navigation on the unit ...

Overall, the Canon MX850 had only lackluster photo print quality, but it had decent speed and did a decent job on printing to plain paper. And while it has a great selection of features, it's a tad pricey for its performance results and in comparison ...

Canon Pixma MX850 All-In-One Printer

By Sudhakar2k (pcworld.com)

This all-in-one printer/copier/scanner/fax does a good job in every aspect. The printer is a high quality one and as good as any stand alone inkjet printer i have used at home. The Copier also works splendidly, although the copies come out a little lighte...

Simply put this machine is a great printer, copier, scanner, and fax machine. It also connects to home networks via an ethernet cable easily. It has a great variety of features and very few flaws.

The main problem i have had with the machine is that it cannot differentiate between incoming telephone and faxes.

Canon Pixma MX850 All-In-One Printer

By caseyahenry (pcworld.com)

I purchased the MX850 as a replacement for a similar HP Photosmart 3310 that I had been using for several years with my Mac and Windows PCs. I was generally satisfied with the HP; it included built-in wireless networking and had outstanding photo quality....

Outstanding text quality, built-in duplexing and automatic document feeder, two paper trays, Mac (Leopard) compatibility

Big and heavy, networking/sharing support could be improved, photo quality not fantastic
