Canon Pixma PRO-1

The Canon Pixma PRO-1 is large, slow, and expensive for an A3+ photo printer, but it delivers where it counts: in producing magnificent, gallery-quality prints.

Magnificent photo quality. Especially good for monochrome photos. Above-par graphics and text. Higher-capacity ink tanks than its rivals.

Relatively slow. Large and heavy. Pricey for an A3+ printer. Can't print from paper rolls.

Canon PIXMA PRO-1

The first thing you're going to notice is that you're not dealing with a typical 13x19 size printer here. The box is huge! Side by side with the Epson 3880 (a 17” printer), you'd be hard pressed to say which has a bigger capacity. Much of this size is...

Canon Pixma Pro-1 Professional Photo Inkjet Printer Review and Ratings

Meant for pro photographers and serious hobbyists, Canon's wide-format flagship inkjet uses 11 inks and a clear coat (plus support for hundreds of premium papers) to deliver breathtaking images.

Exceptional print quality ; Support for hundreds of ICC paper profiles ; Relatively low ink cost for its class ; Prints are clear-coated ; Optical-disc labeling feature

Printer itself is pricey, huge, and heavy ; Relatively slow ; No support for roll printing ; No built-in Wi-Fi connectivity

Were the Pixma Pro-1 to support paper rolls and Wi-Fi, it would have been a hands-down shoo-in for our Editors’ Choice award. But then, this professional photo printer provides versatility in other ways, including support for hundreds of ICC profiles

Canon Pixma Pro-1

We found almost no complaints from Canon Pixma Pro-1 owners about breakdowns or clogged nozzles -- both more common problems with the Epson R3000. Some owners do complain that the Canon guzzles ink, but others point out that this is only true with the...

Canon PIXMA PRO-1: A New 12 Pigment-Ink, 13x19” Printer

The new Canon PIXMA PRO-1 is a 13x19” pigment-ink printer that makes fine quality prints in a price range that could be considered quite fair for what you get ($999). Aimed at avid photographers and enthusiast printmakers, as well as pros choosing to...

Canon Pixma Pro-1 Review: Second to None

The Canon Pixma Pro-1 Professional Inkjet Printer is the new flagship model of Canon's photo inkjet lineup, following in the footsteps of the popular Pixma Pro9000 Mark II and Pixma Pro9500 Mark II.

Virtually PERFECT color accuracy without manual calibration ; Fantastic retention of highlight and shadow detail without clipping to white or black ; Reasonably fast printing at high quality

Ink runs out fast even with the larger tanks ; No built-in Wi-Fi ; This thing is HUGE and HEAVY

The Canon Pixma Pro-1 Professional Inkjet Printer is available now through Canon and authorized retailers for the suggested selling price of $999.99.

Canon Pixma Pro-1 review

Canon's big, fat, high-end A3+ printer is the best yet

Excellent colour and mono prints ; High volume ink tanks ; Excellent software ; Robust build quality

Premium price ; Large and heavy ; No borderless on some fine art paper ; Custom profiles required for highest quality

The Canon Pixma Pro-1 A3+ printer stands at the top of Canon's Pixma Pro inkjet printer range. Priced at £799 in the UK and $999.99 in the US and aimed squarely at 'serious' professional photographers, the Pro-1 is pitched as the world's first 12-ink...
