HP DESKJET D5560

I needed to replace my previous HP printer that I got as a complementary gift with my purchase of a Laptop. After much searching and comparing cost of device & cost of ownership, I decided on the D5560 to replace the now almost dead HP5443. The D5560 was very easy to configure wirelessly on both XP and Vista Premium Home edition laptops. The on-screen guide is easy enough to follow. First time configuration on the first laptop is via the included USB cable. All subsequent laptops were configured without the use of the USB cable. Noise is about average for this type printer. However the print quality is pretty good for both pictures and plain documents. At any rate it is better than my previous printer on both accounts. I haven't worked out the cost of printing as yet but I suspect that it will be on the high side. One of the considerations at the time of buying was the ease with which one could get ink cartridges. In Pakistan HP cartridges are widely available. thus in my book this printer ticks almost all the boxes.

I had an Epson photo printer which worked a treat, except that it was fussy about ink. Would not work with cheap inks, had to use the proper stuff. Then, the nozzles started to get blocked until no amount of cleaning would clear them completely.

Very good printer, easy to set up, good quality printing.

I have this printer connected via a cable to my desktop pc upstairs and wireless to our laptop downstairs, set up was seamless and print quality is excellent.
