Epson Expression Premium XP-800 Review

Over the years, there have been arguments back and forth as to which printing technology is better – inkjet or laser. Until recently, the consensus has been that laser printing was faster and more economical, while inkjet technology usually produces...

Good print quality and performance ; Large 3.5 color touchpad ; Comprehensive connectivity including wireless, Ethernet, and USB ; Duplex printing and copying

Small-capacity paper tray ; Useful user’s manual isn’t included ; Tweaking of paper and driver settings necessary for high-quality output

The XP-800 packs a lot of performance and functionality into a very compact footprint. It’s easy to set up and connect for the most part, and delivers decent quality when printing photos and every-day output.

Review: Epson Expression Premium XP-800 Small-in-One Printer

Epson's Expression Premium XP-800 is a great little multifunction that handles every SOHO chore in the book and is especially well-suited for graphic artisans. But for a nearly $300 printer, ink costs are high.

Nice output quality ; Duplex printing and scanning ; CD/DVD printing

Inks are somewhat pricey ; User guide is online only

A smart MFP that performs pretty well, but it's very expensive to buy and run

Physically, the Epson Expression Premium XP-800 is smaller than the average MFP, at 390x339x191mm when all doors and trays are closed. It's coloured a sparkly midnight blue that looks different depending on the angle from which you view it. Said...

If you're not worried about operating costs--and you probably shouldn't be with a low-volume unit such as the XP-800--you'll like everything else about it. It's fast, it produces exceptionally nice output, and it lacks nothing in the way of features....

Epson Expression Premium XP-800

Hi, I´d like to ask you one question. I´d like to buy this printer but I´d like to get one that could print from 2 or 3 computers and could also print Cd/DVD.

To answer your question, yes, the ink cartridges don't last very long. But this is true with most inkjet printers–the ink rarely lasts beyond a couple of hundred pages.

Actually this is a question. Is the Epson XP-800 economically effective with ink? I am finding that the cartridges last a very short time l- need to be replaced often – no photos printed at all. Have just put in the 273 XL cartridges to see if they...

Same problems as have been reported.

Avoid this printer like the plague.

None. Never got it to work

As reported on Epson's own website, this printer has a chronic problem of not recognizing the black ink cartridge when it is installed. This happened to me right out of the box. As a result, the printer is completely unusable. Should have done more...
