Epson WorkForce 520

The $130 Epson WorkForce 510 is a direct replacement for the WorkForce 310 we reviewed last year, but it adds wireless printing for the same price. The 510 isn't perfect, and this certainly isn't a device for high-volume photo prints, but its fax and...

Excellent output quality; fast output speeds; office-friendly features including auto document feeder, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet networking.

Lacks PictBridge/memory card reader; mediocre photo print quality.

The Epson WorkForce 520 isn't ideal for photo printing or graphics-heavy documents, but this all-in-one device delivers office-capable features like an auto document feeder and multiple connection options at an effective price. For light-duty office...

Epson WorkForce 520 All-in-One Printer

The Epson WorkForce 520 color inkjet multifunction printer (with print, scan, copy, and fax functions) deserves credit for breaking two inkjet stereotypes. It is not slow--in fact, it's blazing fast. Its inks are not expensive, either--they're...

Economical inks ; Very fast at printing text, copying, and scanning ; Low purchase price

Middling text quality at default settings ; High-yield inks offer little savings ; No automatic duplexer

The WorkForce 520's speed and cheap inks address two small-office needs, but its text quality on plain paper falls short of another.

Epson Workforce 520

Like the WorkForce 310 before it, the WorkForce 520 can print, scan, and fax, even over a network, and can work as a standalone copier and fax machine. It will also let you send an e-mail from its front-panel menu commands, automatically launching an...

Prints, scans, and faxes even over a network. Ethernet and WiFi. Standalone copier and fax

Low paper capacity. Although acceptable for most business uses, output quality is below par across the board

Aimed at micro and home offices with light-duty printing needs, the Epson WorkForce 520 All-in-One is a little weak on output quality, but strong on office-centric features.

Review: Epson WorkForce 520 multifunction printer

The Epson WorkForce 520 color inkjet multifunction printer deserves credit for breaking two inkjet stereotypes. It is not slow--in fact, it's blazing fast. Its inks are not expensive, either--they're impressively cheap, as is the machine's purchase price.

We found the WorkForce 520 generally easy to set up and work with. Driver setup went quickly, and the unit's standard Wi-Fi is convenient (USB and ethernet also come standard). The two-line monochrome LCD and its interface are straightforward but feel...

Epson WorkForce 520 review

Beneath the ADF, users will find the 48-bit color flatbed scanner offering a maximum scan resolution of 9600 x 9600 dpi (interpolated) and an optional resolution up to 1200 dpi. The flatbed can scan documents and photos up to 8.5 x 11.5 inches and...

Fast print speeds (fastest in its class) ; Good text print quality ; Low energy consumption ; Increased paper capacity

Manual duplexing ; Must power off after print error ; Scan software lacking ; No front side USB

The Epson WorkForce 520 comes with a one-year limited warranty in the U.S. and Canada. A one-year and two-year extended service plan can be purchased for $19.95 and $29.95, respectively

Epson WorkForce 520

The WorkForce 520 is a balanced trade-off between value and the basic features small offices need in an all-in-one inkjet printer.

Inexpensive for an all-in-one; fast printing; great print quality; document feeder with 30-page capacity

Lacks a graphical display; no memory-card slots; slow when scanning, copying

Overall, the WorkForce 520 is a good value and a practical choice for its intended market: small offices and home-based businesses that print a lot of standard business documents and forms. If you have a need for print speed, you probably won’t find an...

Somewhat fast.

Will not work without all ink cartridges being full.

"Epson was once great..."

- epson was once great - bucking all the 'standards' now they produce equipment that is run of the mill with all the bells and whistles you would expect from ink hustlers. Point blank - best way to tick off a user? make mandatory color ink usage on...

If you don't mind capping paper filler at 15 pages, it prints well. Paper insert is odd and clumsy.

The menu on the screen is not optimal - borderline annoying.

"Great product, ink lasts for a long time."

If you need to print with black ink only settings, it's a little tricky when you have a mac. I had to first click on print, then right next to the printer name, there's an arrow on the right, click on that to expand your print settings. From there, you...

really good quality printing for the price.

color ink is a little pricey but lasts for a good while.
