Epson WorkForce WF-3540

One step up in Epson's line from the Editors' Choice Epson WorkForce WF-3520, the Epson WorkForce WF-3540 is similar to its less expensive sibling in most ways, but more appropriate for a different level of use. Both of these inkjet MFPs are aimed...

Prints, faxes, scans, and copies. Unusually capable paper handling. Wi-Fi. Ethernet. Prints through the cloud

Although good enough for most business needs, text quality is a touch below par

The Epson WorkForce WF-3540 is a little weak on text quality but its paper handling and MFP features make it an excellent fit for a micro office with heavy-duty needs.

Epson WorkForce WF-3540

The Epson WorkForce WF-3540 bundles an array of useful features to keep your office productive, including a top-loading auto document feeder, dual paper input trays, extra-large-capacity ink cartridges, and cloud printing access by way of Google Cloud...

The Epson WorkForce WF-3540 workhorse multifunction is built for performance with cloud printing capabilities, extra-large-capacity ink cartridges, dual 250-sheet paper trays, an intuitive touch-screen display, and an external USB port for standalone...

The 3.5-inch touch-screen display works well with gesture navigation, but its fixed angle inhibits its usability in higher positions.

Complete with wireless access, remote printing in the cloud, an interactive touch screen, and several paper trays, the Epson WorkForce WF-3540 is well-prepared to handle large workloads for home offices, corporate teams, and everything in between.

Epson WorkForce WF-3540 review

Paper handling on the WorkForce WF-3540 is top-notch. In addition to two bottom-mounted, 250-sheet paper cassettes, there's a single-sheet rear feed for photo paper, envelopes and the like. Tip: Push the paper down into the rear feeder until you feel...

The WorkForce WF-3540 is the only £129 MFP we've reviewed recently that isn't missing one feature or another. It's not as cheap per page as the Brother MFC-J4510DW, but it automatically scans in duplex and doesn't striate colour output in normal mode...

"Practical workhorse for a small/medium office"

This printer was easy to setup for my 8 computer office (does that count as small?). We've used it for a few months and it rarely beeps at us for something going wrong- usually out of ink. We didn't setup fax because we have a separate machine for that.

Easy setup with CD

Rear paper feed never works

"ALMOST perfect...."

We've had a faithful Brother CW 685 for about 3 years and it's just started getting lines across images, so we did a lot of research before opting for the 3540. It got good tech reviews and the majority of user reviews were positive.

Lightning fast printing

Cannot turn off fax ring (REALLY annoying missed feature)

"So close to what I wanted"

I was tired of every HP I purchased (even one that was $800) dieing after 3 years. The last one was rated for 40k pages/month and died after about 6k. This Epson printed almost as many pages per tonerink, but for 1/6 the price. Lots of great reviews....

Good value

poor paper management, poor firmware

"What a GREAT printer!!! I love it!!!"

In summary, this is a great printer for the price. CNET needs to give more credit.

Great price, compact, user friendly, quick and easy set up, great quality, print from anywhere, no wires, print from computer, iPhone, iPad all with ease, great online support, etc. Will highly recommend to all my friends.

None Yet....

"Awesome printer!"

I replaced this printer for my HP Pro 8500 which was loud, junky, wasn't always able to connect to etc. I used HP since I was in Junior High. I'm now 25 and can say I'm in LOVE with Epson! Thank you for making a quality printer!

FAST! Easy to setup, easy to scan to network (even with Server 2012 managing all the computers, you just have to allow the software through the Windows firewall.) Very sleek looking with all black, and fits nice on my desk! NOT too big! Just high.

None so far!
