HP Photosmart Pro B8850

Printer, heal thyself. Things that go bump in the night: ghosts, ghouls, and the new HP Photosmart Pro B8850. If this printer sits idle for more than a day, it powers on, wakes up, and checks each of its 4,884 ink nozzles to make sure they're...

Excellent color and B&W output. Replaceable print heads. High capacity pigment ink cartridges. Solidly built

Does not support media thicker than 0.7mm (heavy card stock). Multiple-user networking not supported. Awkward feed arrangement for large sheets of paper

Despite some paper-handling inconveniences, the B8850's high quality output, decent speed (2 minutes, 30 seconds to print a quality 8-by-10), and moderate ink costs (about $3 for a 13-by-19-inch print) make it a heavy hitter. It's a 38-pound behemoth...

HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Photo Printer

File the HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Photo Printer ($549.99 direct) under pleasant surprises. In theory, it's the next-generation replacement for the Photosmart 8750 Professional Photo Printer, a model that printed good, but not great, photos and suffered...

Superb photo output at sizes up to 13 by 19 inches. Fine art papers available.

Photos and graphics on plain paper are disappointing.

The HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Photo Printer makes it easyand affordableto print high-quality photos at up to 13 by 19 inches.

Supports thick fine-art media ; Very good print quality, especially on matte and fine-art papers ; Long-lasting prints on HP media ; Good software utilities ; Produces neutral black-and-white prints

Glossy prints show some bronzing ; Slower than comparable photo printers

HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Review

Following hot on the heels of the popular Photosmart Pro B9180 13 inch / A3 photo printer, HP has just introduced a lower price model, the B8850, that will appeal to enthusiasts who don't need all of the features of the B9180. The HP B8850 was...

HP Photosmart B8850 Photo Printer Review

A high end printer capable of handling a variety of print sizes

Good color accuracy; Good color accuracy; Good detail performance; Good detail performance

The B8850 turned in a creditable performance overall, with good looking, sharp prints with accurate color. But it was somewhat noisy while doing so; there is a lot of clanking and thumping from the printer itself while printing.

HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Printer

I reviewed HP's first 13" x 19" pigment ink printer, the Photosmart Pro B9180, a little over a year ago and was impressed with both its print quality and its price point

So the good news is that if you're looking for a new 13" x 19" pigment ink printer, you now have two choices from HP to add into the mix with Canon's and Epson's offerings

Review: HP Photosmart Pro B8850 printer

The HP Photosmart Pro B8850 photo printer is a strong offering with very good print quality on most paper types and excellent black-and-white printing capabilities.

The B8850 is a large printer, weighing nearly 40 pounds. It has a 200-sheet paper tray and a single-sheet, manual-feed tray with a straight paper path, both of which are capable of handling paper from 3.5 by 5 inches up to 13 by 19 inches. It uses...

Review: HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Printer

How does this $550 inkjet printer compare to the Epson Stylus Photo R1900 and the HP Photosmart Pro B9180?

I am just wondering if the Photosmart B9180 might have this same exact problem since they both share almost the same technological printing process
