Very ink thirsty

I bought a black ink cartridge for £12 which lasted for about a week. Also setup kept asking for cartridge alignment although it had been done twice using even more ink for nothing.

Fast operation, Compact design

Not for the elderly!

HP is my computer and peripherals company of choice. My household previously had a PSC 7821 series (all-in-one) and used it daily for TEN years with zero maintenance issues! We have replaced this with the HP Photosmart C4680 and although the quality of printing is excellent, there is a major issue in HP's attempt to go small: My parents have too much difficulty changing the print cartridges. This was not a problem with the earlier model. You would think that in our aging consumer society, HP would have considered beta-testing such a critical feature with elderly users!

Great print quality, Easy setup, Compact design, Reliable

Not my favorite HP

I am a big promoter and user of HP printers and believe they make quality printers. I am also a Mac user. I bought this printer in a hurry . . . sort of an emergency situation . . . without having a chance to review it, mainly because I did not know which printer I was going to buy (there were only two models of HP printers where I had to buy this one). Two big grievances: (1) I find the touchscreen to be not user-friendly, i.e, "right arrow" for down movement? and it does not offer an option to scan directly to iPhoto "jpeg to iPhoto" as another HP printer I have; and (2) the print menu does not allow me to print multiple copies of the same document . . . instead I must click "print" each time I want a copy. In other HP printers, a menu will appear allowing me to select the number of copies I wish or the printer itself will offer this feature. This model does not.

Relatively fast. Reasonably high-quality output across the board. Prints, scans, and copies

LCD for previewing photos on memory cards is unusually small. Relatively high cost per page

The HP Photosmart C4680 All-in-One delivers on features, but the high cost per page can easily make it more expensive overall than a printer that costs more.

HP Photosmart C4680

HP's Photosmart C4680 color inkjet multifunction printer (MFP)--$100 at this writing--is priced to look like a bargain. Given its costly inks and slow speeds, however, it's best suited for low-volume use.

Good print quality ; Nice control panel

Slow; expensive inks ; Low-capacity, cheap-feeling paper trays

The Photosmart C4680 would be a decent choice for a light-duty home MFP, given its nice output and friendly controls. However, if you print or copy a lot, look for a faster machine with much lower ink prices

Print quality is impressive for a model this inexpensive to buy, but its ink costs are high.

HP C4680 -- Inexpensive Black Box With a Nice Touch

It seems like ever since Kodak introduced its rough-around-the-edges pigment inkjets, HP has been playing catch-up in the inkjet game. They countered Kodak's claim of less expensive prints with bundled consumables and green packaging. And with the...

While we did like the small TouchSmart touch frame, we weren't happy with how the card reader integrated into our real world setting. And while the box itself is attractive (particularly to dust and fingerprints), the image quality was not up to the...

Does what it's supposed to. On Linux! Don't forget to pick up a USB cable.

Got this for my parents. Works well, nice prints and scans. Supports Xubuntu out of the box

I do not recall a USB cable included. Thankfully I foresaw this complication, and there was a combo deal with a 10 foot USB cable. Cable was 3 bucks, the combo discount was 3 bucks, so it was free from a pure money standpoint

HP Photosmart C4680 Q8418A Up to 29 ppm 4800 x 1200 dpi InkJet MFC / All-In-One Color Printer

Had no problem connecting this printer to windows 7. Fast printing. Nice quality of regular printing and pictures turn out quite nice. I have enough usb cables floating around so a lack of one was not a problem. Besides they are not that expensive anyway

None that I recall

Awesome printer for [$] on clearance

I got the printer on clearance for around [$]. Hard to be disappointed with that. If I paid the full price, it would be a different story.

be prepared for frustration

I could not get past initial steps of set-up because the "OK" button didn't work. I wasted a day with HP's tech support - they had all these wonderful re-set procedures to try (that of course required multiple OK's to be entered) and could simply not...
