With its great-looking output, small form factor, and dollar-saving toner program, Lexmark€™s C544dn is a good fit for a small to medium-sized workgroup looking to add color to presentations and brochures.
Great image quality ; automatic two-sided printing ; 10/100 Ethernet connectivity ; rewards program for toner
Slow to start up ; lengthy duplex printing time
The C544dn features what has to be the easiest toner replacement scheme we've seen. A side panel opens up and the four separate cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) easily pop in and out, more like ink-jet cartridges than typical toner ...

The Lexmark C544dn ($499 direct) is one of the newest in a long line of impressive color laser printers from Lexmark. A little too large to serve as a truly personal printer, it's aimed at a small office, workgroup, or busy home office, with ample ...
Reasonably fast. Ample paper handling. High-quality output overall, particularly for graphics and photos.
Although text is easily good enough quality for most business purposes, it's a touch below par for a laser.
The Lexmark C544dn offers the right balance of speed, paper handling, output quality, and size to fit nicely in a typical small office, workgroup, or busy home office.
If you don't need a duplexer, you can get the C544n ($449 direct) instead of...
Taking the hint from another reviewer of this printer, we purchased a generic 512 MB 100-pin "desktop memory" from Newegg and it installed just fine. With the standard 128 MB internal memory, the printer now has a total of 640 MB. This saved hundreds of d...
The Lexmark C544dn printer has worked great for us and the duplex feature is much appreciated. Installation on my home wireless network was easy - just connected to my Apple Airport Extreme Wireless Router with network cable and used the CD-ROM to install...
The printer has worked great. The build quality is definitely a little less than the HP's I've used at the office for years, so this printer is probably best for home use, or light duty at an office. Only quibble is most programs do not allow you to easil...
I think Lexmark got it right with this printer. I wish they would have put an extra 128mb of memory in it and added photo sizes to the wizard but then I'd have absolutely nothing to complain about and have to give it 5 eggs.
This is a great Laser Printer. It prints in amazing speed and the quality of the print is excellent. Not to mention the fact that it's a duplex printer. It prints pictures well enough that I wouldn't be ashamed to use it for such, although the wizard does...
the print wizard does not give a listing for photo size papers. I also wish it had come with a larger amount of memory. 128mb is ok but don't try and print backgrounds on a web page, won't work. You can buy more memory but you are already starting at a pr...
Heavy stock (even card stock) feed is excellent, even in duplex mode. No jams so far.
I wrote the first review directly above, and after now using the printer for a month, I would like to update some of the comments I made. The Lexmark C544dn is an excellent printer, one of the best color laser printers I have used
As sold, the printer is severally lacking in "must-have" features. It's not really a $499 color laser printer. It's a ~$750-$800 color laser printer with the extra memory and second sheet tray. Without those, it really does only deserve a four egg rating....
Fully loaded for small- and mid-sized workgroup performance, the Lexmark C544dn brings you fast printing up to 23 ppm in black and color, and Lexmark extra high yield toner cartridges to reduce costs. You can drive down paper consumption too, thanks to integrated duplex printing.Make a big impact on your business with a genuine desktop-friendly color printer. With their small, attractive design and quiet noise level, Lexmark's color lasers will be welcome additions to your desktop or small...
