Lexmark x3550

The low price tag sounds like a good deal until you view the photos you've printed.

Lexmark X4550 all-in-one

The Lexmark X4550 is a high-end version of the X3550, which we reviewed recently. The two printers offer the same design and feature set, with the exception that the X4550 adds wireless networking for an additional $50 (though it lacks an Ethernet port...

Built-in wireless networking; speedy text prints; onboard memory card slots and PictBridge port; good color scans

Text, graphics, and photo printing need improvement; very slow 4x6 photo prints

The Lexmark X4550 offers what most all-in-ones in this price range don't: wireless networking. Casual home users who value network-readiness will love that feature, but users who want better print quality will be happier with a different machine.

Lexmark X2250 All-in-one Printer

The Lexmark X2250 All-in-One is a simple, inexpensive multifunction printer that costs just $100. The most obvious sacrifice it makes to achieve that price: The control panel on the dark, plain case has no LCD. In addition to the power button, it has...

Scanning on the flatbed scanner was also very user-friendly. Touching the scan button on the front panel opens up the All-in-One Center software; there you can indicate the type of document you are scanning, and as a result the software will choose a...

Lexmark X3550

Although it's weak on text quality, the X3550 delivers reasonably high-quality graphics and photos, reasonably fast speed, and conveniences that other home AIOs lack. These include the ability to scan and fax as a single operation using your PC's fax...

Wi-Fi option available. Reasonably fast for the price. Prints, scans, and faxes using a PC fax modem. Scans to a PC e-mail program

Subpar text quality, even for an ink jet. No automatic document feeder. No built-in fax modem

The Lexmark X3550 is a little shaky on text quality, but otherwise it offers reasonable speed and output quality, plus an inexpensive Wi-Fi option.

Lexmark X4550

There are at least two ways to look at the Lexmark X4550 ($129.99 direct). If you take the cup-is-half-full view, it's extraordinarily inexpensive for an AIO that includes built-in Wi-Fi. If you take the cup-is-half-empty approach, you'll focus on the...

Built-in Wi-Fi. Prints, scans, faxes using PC fax modem, scans to PC e-mail program. Prints from cameras and memory cards

Slow. Severely subpar text quality. Relatively low-quality photos for an ink jet

The Lexmark X4550 offers built-in Wi-Fi at an extraordinarily low price, but its speed and output quality is more appropriate for a much-less-expensive AIO.

Review: Lexmark X4550 Wireless Thermal Inkjet Printer

Wireless and USB printer with scan, copy, and photo print.

Attractive features and price point. USB and wireless network connectivity; Print quality and capabilities exceed expectations

Incomplete wireless setup and installation instructions. Poor tech support for Macs. Unstable wireless connectivity

I am happy to find that wireless printers have finally caught up with other wireless devices, and at attractive price points. The Lexmark thermal inkjet printers boast many attractive features that make it difficult to choose the best model for you.

Lexmark X4550 Multifunction Device

Though its text quality could be better, the ease of printing, scanning, and copying photos to multiple PCs wirelessly makes the Lexmark X4550 an attractive choice for a family printer.

Inexpensive; easy to use; straightforward wireless setup

Mediocre text quality; slow printing

Double your display real estate by adding a second monitor. It's a snap: Here's how

Good cheap option

For a cheap all in one, this X4550 (as well as similar Lexmark models) works quite well. It uses up ink like the worst of the inkjets but you get good quality prints in the process. Works great in Vista and XP, but does not work at all in Windows 7....

Works well (after firmware update), clean crisp scans, decent printing time and clarity

Needed firmware update to prevent it from freezing up on its own every 3 to 4 days, higher resolutions scans take longer than others scanners I have used, sucks down the ink as bad or worse than many other inkjets, DOES NOT WORK WITH WIN7. Lexmark custome

Consumer review by:

useless under Win7

Just spent over two hours with tech support using remote assistance, attempting to get this printer working (again.) It has never worked properly on either USB or wireless in the two years I've had it. They offered me 20% off MSRP on a new one, but I...

It looks really nice

Won't work reliably under XP or Win7

a great printer for non pro home printing mostly text

Bottom line, since I write and print mostly text this was perfect for my family. The set up disk adds computers quickly and we just print at will. Not only that I can move the printer from room to room and just plug it it. It finds my wireless signal....

Given that I paid 85 and got office depot points, this was the best deal i could get. wireless networked printing its grea

slow, not great resolution
