brother MFC-295CN

It is the worst small printer we have ever owned. The office person purchased this one by mistake about 4 months ago. (We have always used HP small printers). If the cord is over 6 ft. then it has communication problems. If the color ink is low or out then you can't print black. The printer jams about once a week. I accidently hit the fax key when I was trying to scan and it printed fault pages continuously until I shut it off. Right now it will not print in black even though it has new ink and printhead has been cleaned. So will call support for the 5th time in 4 months. We will never buy another Brother device of any kind.

Brother MFC-295CN

If print quality and fax capabilities are important (and speed and Wi-Fi are not), this color-inkjet all-in-one could be a sensible choice for a budget home user.

Low purchase price; good print quality; built-in Ethernet port; fax capabilities

Slow print speeds; higher-than-usual print costs; text-only LCD; lacks Wi-Fi

The Brother MFC-295CN is a bundle of contradictions. It has decent print quality when operating in the normal print mode, but it's very slow. It has a built-in Ethernet port, but it lacks Wi-Fi. It has fax capabilities, but it provides only a tiny,...

Brother MFC-295cn Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer with Fax and Networking

Maxell’s Encore EN-5 offer a rich, full sound for an affordable price, beating out nearly all of the headphones in the test. However, our testers didn’t think they were very comfortable, nor did this pair do a good job staying put during use....

nbsp ; Excellent sound quality ; Adjustable ; Can withstand multiple drops ; Water-resistant ; Light weight and wraps up tightly for easy portability

nbsp ; Didn’t take much force to remove the headphones during our force test ; Consumer testers didn’t find them very comfortable to wear for long periods of time ; Didn’t always stay put during use for our consumer testers

BAD

OH brother... Don't even bother with this piece of garbage..

I printed 5 pages out of this thing =D

then it was empty on ink. Meanwhile, i look for ink in the cartridge, and what do you know, there's PLENTY of it ; Prints in color, but not black

Brother--More Like, 'Bother'

I bought this in spite of it's ridiculously low price, due to some familiarity with Brother printers having pretty good color correctness. I bought some aftermarket ink hoping to safely refill the stock ink carts with it. Maybe that'll help.

Good speed (at normal quality) ; Precise sheet feeding ; Good resolution ; LAN & USB can be used simultaneously

Washed-out printing (especially warmer tones like red) ; NOTE: 'Internet Hearsay'--In my research, I found many independent online reviews that report that you have to have ink in the black ink cart to make the others print ; Other experience with...

Generic Ink

This is a mediocre device, EXCEPT you can get CHEAP generic ink carts. For this and Linux support, I'd buy again in a heartbeat.

Accepts Cheap Generic Ink Refills ; Linux Drivers

Slow ; Scanning options are limited

Budget MFC. Watch out Mac.

If scanning is a serious thing and you own a mac, consider others. I dont ever scan to my computer so to me it does not matter. Took me about 15 minutes to figure out that was causing the slowdown. An average Mac user would never figure it out.

Prints at decent speeds. Ability to use aftermarket carts. Does scanning well. Lots of options for price point

Mac scanning engine that was installed on my macbook by the CD makes my processor pin at 100% all the time. Not aware of a fix yet

Very good light-use all-in-one

Very good light-use all-in-one

I bought quite a few of these Brother multifunction printers. They make minor model changes quite often but the features are all about the same, other than options. It is a pain that they keep changing the ink cartridge type, though, so you cannot...

Great printer for text and general use

Great printer for text and general use

I bought this printer to replace my 9-year old all-in-one device because I am tired or paying as much as the printer costs for a color ink cartridge. I love the fact that this printer uses separate cartridges. I already have one of these on my desk at...
