Excellent performance

If you need fast SAS drives for a RAID array, these are the drives for you, otherwise look at the OCZ Vertex 2's running TRIM in the OS as you'll get twice the speed for the same price.

Very fast for hard drives, 2 drives in Raid 0 achieved sustained read/write of 310MB/s. The OCZ SSD's achieve over 500MB/s in RAID 0 but depending upon your RAID there are issues with TRIM. These are about 60% of the speed of an SSD, but without any of...

Expensive, but then they are fast and you get what you pay for

Comparable To SAN Fibre Channel Performance

I ordered two of these drives with my Dell R710 system and was looking to order additional, but there are no more. The performance is astonishing and comparable to the performance we get on our EMC SAN Storage. Write are close to 200MB/s for RAID 0 and...

Savvio 15K.2 reviewed against other 2.5" and 3.5" Seagate disks

I've reviewed this drive along with the 300GB Savvio 10K.3, 500GB Constellation, 300GB Cheetah 15K.5 and 450GB Cheetah 15K.6 drives as part of a trend piece about 2.5" enterprise storage versus 3.5" enterprise storage products. All drives are SAS.

Largest available size for 2 . 5" form factor @ 15K RPM, best multi - user performance in the lineup

Still relatively small for 146GB

Seagate Savvio 10K.1. Part Two

This diagram allows us to evaluate the efficiency of multi-threaded lazy write procedures of the hard disks in real (not synthetic, as on the diagram with the average access time) conditions when the operating system works with files. Hitachi, Maxtor...

Seagate Savvio 10K.1 — Little, but Daring

We have recently drawn a bottom line under the series of our reviews of modern professional 3.5-inch Ultra320 SCSI hard drives 10K.1. All the participants were reviewed, the winners were announced. Thus it seems we can "forget" about this class of...

Seagate Savvio 73GB

Today there is a huge range of sizes, speeds and interfaces for hard drives. Currently IDE is still the primary interface for hard drives, mainly due to its more affordable price when compared to other high-end interfaces like SCSI. Unfortunately, the...

Product Specifications

The Seagate Savvio 15K drive is 70 percent smaller than 3.5-inch drives and enables cooler, faster and much more reliable systems. The Savvio 15K drive is the fastest drive available anywhere. In addition, the Savvio 15K drive's smaller size enables more drives per system, increasing system performance density and allowing sufficient memory in the system to match faster processors. The Savvio 15K drive has the highest reliability in the industry and the best nonrecoverable error rate to safeguard data. The Savvio 15K drive consumes less power than 3.5-inch 15K drives, runs cooler and enables more airflow to cool processors. The Savvio 15K drive meets IT performance needs in less space and with fewer drives than 10K drives, lowering TCO.
