Xerox Phaser 6280DN

The Xerox Phaser 6280DN ($649 direct) is Xerox's latest color laser workhorse entry for small offices and workgroups. Although it's a little pricier than some of its competition, it stands out from the crowd for its great-looking output, particularly...

Reasonably fast. High-quality output, particularly for text and graphics. Good paper handling

Both initial price and running costs are a touch on the high side

The Xerox Phaser 6280DN color laser offers a highly attractive balance of speed, output quality, and paper handing for a small office or small workgroup.

Best black text quality and small office printer

If you need a laser printer mostly for text, but still require color capability, reviewers say the Xerox Phaser 6280N is your best bet for PCs and Macs. Among its features are PostScript compatibility and upgradeable RAM (it comes with 256 MB), which...

Text quality, good for moderate office use, fast, upgradeable RAM

No duplex printing, high toner costs

Xerox Phaser 6280

The Phaser 6280 produces excellent colors and fast text printing but is painfully slow in printing complex color graphics.

Beautiful color printing, captures even fine image details

Very slow graphical print speeds, line art comes out a touch red

Review: Xerox Phaser 6280/DN

In the universe of sub-$1,000 color laser printers, the Xerox Phaser 6280/DN is a fair performer. It has high-capacity input trays and toner cartridges, and an average cost per print and purchase price. It's fast at printing longer text documents, but...

The 6280/DN was easy to set up, and once it was powered up and connected via Ethernet to our test network, it was recognized automatically via Bonjour, Apple’s zero-configuration networking protocol. You can also connect to the printer via USB 2.0

Xerox Phaser 6280

Good, fast print from an inexpensive colour laser aimed at small to medium offices.

You can pay a lot for fast colour laser print in the office, so it's refreshing to find the Phaser 6280 which, although costing under £300, offers a real-world 25ppm. The print quality is also excellent and running costs are among the best. With a fair...

Xerox Phaser 6280 review

Workgroup printers tend not to be the friendliest-looking peripherals. The light and appealing Xerox Phaser 6280 colour laser, then, is fairly unusual.

Overall we liked the Xerox Phaser 6280. It's attractive to look at, the design works well, and the paper handling is superb. It works very well as a text printer, and if you're looking for a model with vivid text and excellent paper handling, this is...

Xerox Phaser 6280 review

A tall design isn't the Xerox Phaser's only feature of note, it can hold up to 950 pages and it's inexpensive to run

Attractive to look at; design works well; great as a text printer, best choice for vivid text and excellent paper handling

Features can be difficult to find on menu; poor graphics printing at just 9.1ppm in our tests

Xerox’s one-year warranty is onsite, and the company doesn’t let itself down on running costs. Its 1.7p mono and 8.4p colour prints aren’t the cheapest here, but they’re not the most expensive either.
