Today I will be looking at the next generation of Phenom, the Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition. AMD has added some “umph” to the X4 to give it some more processing power. Will the X4 940 show up my first generation 9950 X4, the last of its generation? ...
Definite upgrade for all earlier AM2/AM2+ processors ; Top choice for building a new AMD DDR2 rig ; Overclocked well ; Priced right
With the release of AM3, it's a hard decision whether to build AM2+ or AM3
Again, the testing results were expected, with good results from the Phenom 9950, better results from the Phenom 940 at stock clock, and the best from the 940 at overclock.
The Dragon platform is AMD's new platform consisting of a 7-Series motherboard, a HD4800 GPU and the new Phenom II X4 GPU's. With promises of great overclocking potential as well as higher clockspeeds from the start, the Dragon platform together with ...
Even though we are positive about the Dragon platform we cannot stop to be a bit dissapointed again that AMD cannot put out something that rivals the best from Intel. It almost seems that AMD is getting content to battle Intel for the mainstream and ...
AMD's second take with the Phenom shows promise as we take up their flagship CPU for testing
A bit pricey, needs high voltage to overclock beyond 3.6GHz, will not work on AM3 motherboards
I have always had Intel CPUs in the past great company. I think from now on I will be considering AMD as my first choice when builing systems in the future. I really like the performance I get out of this CPU. AMD knows what there doing.
Great CPU even if your building a new system and want to save some money over the DDR3 based AM3 or i7 systems. Thats what I did. Ya sure someone with an i7 or whatever is going to have better performace but its not that much of a considerable amout for m...
NONE ;
VERY FAST FOR AMD'S FIRST QUAD CORE WITH 3GHZ. COMES WITH PRETTY GOOD COOLER ;
FOR SOME REASON IT SAYS THAT THE HYPER TRANSPORT IS 3600 MHZ AND THAT WOULD BE 1.8GHZ IN REAL TERMS. (BACK AND FORTH) MINE WHEN CLOCKED AT 3GHZ ONLY SAID 1600MHZ FOR FSB IN CPUZ AND AMD OVERDRIVE. WHEN I USED THE BIOSTAR AUTO OVER CLOCK IT WENT TO 1800. B...
There is no reason to use the AM3 motherboard or DDR3 with this cpu. They will not enhance performance.
With the 790FX chipset and the OCZ AM2 Special memory this is simply the fastest cpu available to the general public for ultra high performance use. By that I mean Catia, Unigraphics NX, Solidworks, Autocad, Premiere, Phototshop not tiddle winks games lik...
Probably not the best gaming CPU where cpu speed counts more than good design ;
