The first 45nm Dual Core overclocks great (This review is also available in German) Last year we had the opportunity to review the first 45nm CPU. While a quad-core is not to everyone's taste, we're now taking a look at the first 45nm dual-core ...
less, but we can't guarantee it can reach 4.40GHz
Intel's 45nm Dual-Cores have finally arrived, so it's only fitting that we take one for a spin. Our test subject is the 3.0GHz E8400, offering 6MB cache, SSE4 and more. Overclocking is impressive, with 3.8GHz stable being possible without even raising ...
At 3 GHz, the Core 2 Duo E8400 is right in the middle of Intel's E8xxx range. On paper, it's 10% slower than the the E8600, the 3.33 GHz processor at the top of this line, but our tests showed that it was only around 8% less powerful
- Speedy results on almost every test, - Sometimes as fast as entry-level quad-core processors, - Reasonable energy efficiency
- For demanding applications, quad-core processors will do better
The E8000 series is an excellent bunch of dual-core processors with reasonable power consumption. For more demanding tasks, though, a quad-core CPU will do better.
Great processor for the money. If you're building a PC for gaming or more serious processor intensive tasks, this processor has the best price/performance ratio out there for now. Later, when more apps have been written to take advantage of 4 or more core...
better performance than 8500 for less money
overclock can be trickier than some processors
GOES REALLY GOOD WITH A MSI P7N PLATINUM MOBO, AND A 9600GT PLAYS ALL THE DX10 GAMES GREAT AT 1440x900 ALL SETTINGS SET TO HIGH. SO THIS IS A GREAT BANG FOR YOUR BUCK CPU!
CHEAP, FAST, 45 nm, GOOD FOR CRYSIS AND DIRECT X 10
COULD BE FASTER BUT I DONT OVERCLOCK BUT U CAN ALWAS OVERCLOCK THIS CPU TO BE ALOT FASTER.
I used to be strictly an AMD buyer, but since AMD hasn't been very competitive with Intel for speed, I chose this processor, and I am very pleased with it. I would highly recommend this processor to anyone that wants to upgrade.
Very fast. Running at 3.16 GHz no problems.
none
The Intel Core 2 Duo processors are built in several of the world's most advanced, high-volume output manufacturing facilities using Intel's leading silicon process technology. The processor family is based on the revolutionary Intel Core microarchitecture, designed to provide powerful yet energy-efficient performance. With the power of dual cores, or computing engines, the processors can manage numerous tasks faster. They also can operate more smoothly when multiple applications are running...
