Acer H5380BD

An entry-level 2D and 3D home entertainment projector, the Acer H5380BD offers a low price, 720p HD resolution, and support for 3D with Blu-ray players and other video devices.

Inexpensive. Native 720p resolution. HDMI port supports Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) for easy connection to MHL-enabled mobile devices

Low volume. No 3D glasses included

As the successor to the Acer H5370BD, which is discontinued but still widely available online at this writing, the Acer H5380BD ($549.99) shares the same basic description. It's an entry-level home-entertainment projector for 2D and 3D, and it's a...

Preview: At $550, the Acer H5380BD is a great solution for those on a budget, with a setup that is likely to change in the near future, or that are looking for a projector for the home and office.

Who would want a 720p projector? Plenty of people. How about people thatwant to save money, people that aren't projecting such a big image that theyneed 1080p much less 4K, etc. At $550, the Acer H5380BD is a greatsolution for those on a budget, with a...

The Best $500 Projector

The best $500 projector is the Acer H5380BD. It offers the best overall picture quality that's comparable to our favorite $1,000 projector. It has the best combo of contrast ratio and brightness to create an image that's better than the competition.

The Acer combines a decent contrast ratio and high brightness to create an image that’s just better than the competition. It’s a lot more projector than you’d expect for the money, and our pick for the best $500 projector.

Great projector...

I bought this instead of a new led tv, just to see how it'd work out as a regular every day tv. It works great! The black levels as I mentioned aren't great, but you get used to it after a bit and then don't notice so much, 90% of the time. When...

Giant, 110" tv screen! Good resolution, bright picture

A few weeks ago the bulb went BOOM after 3,846 hours (that vast majority of those hours were in Eco mode). Literally heard a loud pop, and found the bulb to be in a million shards of glass inside and outside the unit. Poor black levels (this may or may...

It's ok for movies but 5-stars?

Background : We replaced an aging portable Epson projector (basic VGA projector for business presentations) that had ended up mounted to our ceiling in a makeshift home theater set up. After 7-ish years, it seemed an upgrade was in order. Setup : We...

Bright, really really bright 720p - good resolution (at the price point) Durable - we use ours every evening as basically a TV Haven't noticed any rainbow effect

Color fidelity less than optimal Grey/black levels are less than ideal

love it

I bought this before there were any reviews on here right after this model was released and that's not something i normally do and it was a great purchase, no regrets.

Great picture / I use it on a dark blue wall and the picture is great ; good price / outperforms (in my opinion) a buddies BenQ that cost 2x as much

mounting to a universal ceiling mount was tricky

If you need a bright, 720 machine, go for this

I think the scare about DLP rainbows is over-hyped. I can see them, but only on a very few scenes and then only if I try.

Very Bright. Long life bulb. 5000hrs. Small and white. Hides easily on the ceiling. MHL HDMI port. Easy to set up, color close to perfect out of the box. No issue with DLP rainbows with me or any of my friends. I purchased this projector for a friend...

Gets hot, but no problems so far.

Set for 720p

Once again set your outputs on your sources to the native mode 720p and you should have no issues.

I also bought the last version of this projector so I thought I would comment to balance the negative comment of the other guy who did as well. It has been a great projector with my kids and grandkids running it nonstop for almost 4 years now with no...

For the money absolutely none. Some people seems to have trouble with the earlier model when they ran it as 1080p
