BenQ EP5920

Drawing the line between home entertainment projectors like the 1080p BenQ EP5920 and home theater projectors, like the Editors' Choice Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8350 can be arbitrary. However, the DLP-based EP5920 definitely falls on the home...

Inexpensive. Native 1080p resolution. Reasonably high-quality video image. Two HDMI ports. Built-in speaker

3D support is highly limited. Shows rainbow artifacts relatively often

The BenQ EP5920 1080p home entertainment (not home theater) projector includes its own sound system and is bright enough to stand up to moderate levels of ambient light.

BenQ EP5920 Review

As a general-purpose projector for home video and games, the EP5920 can really shine.

BenQ EP5920

I have a theater room in my house and after reading hundreds of reviews I decided that the BenQ EP5920 was the best 1080p projector for the money. I was expecting good quality but what I got amazed me. I have a 46" 1080p Samsung LED in my livingroom...

Great picture, easy set up

none yet - Just a FYI not a knock on the projector. Make sure you mount the projector the correct distance from your screen so you get full coverage without having to zoom. I do notice a rainbow effect in zoom

Great projector for HT

Most online sources are 720p, not 1080 yet :( Blueray movies are not always available. 3D would have been nicer, but it's still 5-10 years out; by then the 3D models will be cheaper. No need for 3Ds now.

Bright - compares to my old Sharp 10X. I had to tune the brightness to 30%, which hopefully get me more life for the bulb ; Resolution is great ; Automatic keystone correction works great ; Quiet - quieter than the old Sharp ; Intelligent - knows what...

DLP - no lens shift like in LCD. So it has to be put in the absolute middle ; Remote - nice and shiny but have to rely on onscreen menu a lot. The Sharp remote was a lot better, making a few frequent used task pretty easy

My first home projector

I'm not a home theater guru, but I am a gadget guy and I know what I like. I'm discerning but not a snob about things, and this projector has me VERY pleased. If I had to restart my search for a first projector, I wouldn't hesitate to get this unit...

It has all the inputs I need. A receiver with HDMI up-conversion would be best if mounting on the ceiling. Headphone jack audio out is nice to hook small speakers up to if you take it somewhere. Built in speaker is handy, but not movie/game worthy ; I...

I wish I had more room for positive text. The only Con I can think of is the fan is a bit louder than my PS3. That's easy to work around: Turn up the sound! Really, it's never been loud enough to annoy me

Great Projector

You can compare projectors all day long. In the end it just depends on what you need. You're going to get a great picture with any of these new budget projectors. Blacks won't be the greatest. The Acer H6500 offers really high lumens if you plan to use...

I don't know if there is much to say about this projector ; The picture is outstanding in 1080p ; The speaker offers portability ; Up to 9 years bulb life on economy ; Build Quality is great ; Lots of connections for all your devices ; Aux-out if you...

The blacks could be better. (The Acer H6500 is also in this price class and it has an Auto-Contrast feature; I haven't seen it myself and I'm not sure how much more it offers) ; Keep in mind the blacks aren't bad, they just could be better ; Not a...
