BenQ W1200 review

When it comes to home theatre setups, the standard choice is either a high-definition LCD or Plasma TV. With them, come budget constraints. For example, LCD TVs above the 42 and 46-inch size are extremely expensive in comparison to their smaller...

The BenQ W1200 isn't the ultimate of projectors out there. The full 1080p resolution does add a bit more to the detail, but you absolutely must use 1080p video on it to take advantage of it.

BenQ W1200

For a family room type environment, it's also great that the W1200 has plenty of lumens. Though we clocked only 1400 and change out of BenQ's claimed 1800, and our preferred bright mode was down around 1200 lumens, that still is a lot better than most...

Bright entry level home projector with sufficient lumens to double as a portable business projector ; Definitely has that famous DLP look - with deep rich saturated colors ; Capable of screens up to 130" and maybe even larger depending on room etc ;...

Could be a bit quieter at full power, though it is quieter than most other low cost DLP's but noisier than the LCD projectors ; Worse, the projector has a variable fan level - it will speed up or slow down every so often. Many will notice when it...

Other than the BenQ W1200 looking a lot like many other projectors (though it has a touch more style than many), most typical is the documentation: Not a lot of depth, or advice on why to use certain settings

Despite some quirks, the W1100 and W1200 are excellent 1080p home theater projectors for $1299 and $1499.

Firmware v1.04

I love this projector. I replaced a BenQ W100 with this beast and am very happy with the purchase. The picture quality is great right out of the box ; Movies with an 234" picture == win ; For the price point, this is a lot of projector. I would buy...

It loses the digital zoom setting every time you turn it off. So when I power on I always have to reset the zoom ; 1 Egg

High Performing 1080P HT Projector

If you want the best picture quality for a bargain price amongst the entry level projectors this may be your best bet. I was looking for similar and came upon this. The lumen brightness on this unit is quite bright compared to the average DLP or even...

BenQ W1200 3D Ready DLP Projector

I was surprised to see so many negative reviews. I love this projector. This is my 3rd BenQ. The other two are still going strong after years of use, but I wanted a brighter high def picture. I no longer have to close blinds or turn off the lights to...

BenQ W1200 review

First impressions of the W1200, BenQ's latest home cinema projector, are good; it's compact, quiet and stylish. The glossy white and silver plastic chassis is easy on the eye and the projector is small enough to fit on a shelf. Like most projectors...

A great DLP projector with plenty of display options, but it costs more than the equivalent LCD competition
