Optoma HD 82

The hardest thing with some pieces of kit is not getting them to work but giving them back. We're absolutely smitten with the Optoma HD82, the latest high end picture beamer from the top-end projector people. Read our full Optoma HD82 review to see ...

The quality, the depth of image and the ease of use

Giving it back

Yes it's pricey at just under £2500 but the HD82 delivers cinema quality film viewing

BenQ Joybee GP1

BenQ Joybee GP1 review

By Sarah Jones

Pico projectors are getting ever trendier. There's a host out there already, with new models promised from WowWee later this year and the arrival of the first camera with built-in projector - the Coolpix S1000pj from Nikon - set for September.

The portability and ease of use

The price

This BenQ model is leading the pico pack, but prices are still fairly high as this is a relatively new gadget trend

InFocus IN82

InFocus IN82

By James Holland

The superbly spendy IN82 is made by projector specialists InFocus and is capable of throwing out a full-HD image on any wall in your house with no discernable lack in quality, thanks largely to a manual adjustable iris that can sacrifice brightness ...

Sexy, black styling and excellent picture quality. Manual adjusting iris

Noisy fan, and have you seen the price

An excellent DLP projector that throws out high quality images like we throw out metaphors, only missing out on top marks because of the weighty price tag.

Infocus X10

InFocus X10

By James Holland

Why squint at your television like a myopic octogenarian when you could be gazing in awe at the full-HD images thrown from the InFocus X10 projector?

Dazzling bright images and vivid colours. A sleek, ceiling-hugging design

Standard-def looks disappointing by comparison

Rustle your crisp packets and talk loud guff during the trailers, because this is the ultimate full-HD projector for a grand!

Mitsubishi HC6500

Mitsubishi HC6500

By James Holland

The Mitsubishi HC6500 is a piece of cutting-edge projector technology that splatters huge, 1080p images on your wall. You just have to ask it nicely, and feed it right…

Barely noticeable fan noise, vivid HD images

Standard-definition suffers in comparison to HD pictures

The Mitsubishi HC6500 dishes out sharp, colourful images from its cutting-edge LCD chipset. Impressive.

Sony Bravia VPL-VW80

Sony Bravia VPL-VW80

By James Holland

With its intense blackness and enigmatic contours, the Sony Bravia VPL-VW80 looks more like something the military might use to hurt people than a full-HD projector. And given the amount of hi-tech gubbinry packed in we wouldn't be surprised if it was ...

Dazzlingly bright and vivid images, and a sleek design

5,000 for a projector in any economic climate is a lot. In this one it's obscene

Projectors don't get much better than the Sony Bravia VPL-VW80, with vivid colours and scarily dark blacks. It comes at a price, though.
