Epson EH-TW 2900

The Epson EH-TW 2900 is a Full HD LCD projector that's been on the market since November 2009. Epson lists the device for 1,099.99 GBP, which matches the price you'll pay through online retailers.

Versatile lens-shift optics ; Massive zoom factor ; Sharp HD pictures ; Full colour-management system

Exaggerated colours ; Slight colouration in black images ; Average in-picture contrast

Excellent features for your money! The build quality also pleases, as does the extremely versatile installation, but Epson’s LCD projector fails to make the most of its potential — its presets, for example, show subtle discolourations. Experts can...

An affordable HD projector?

Good value Full HD pictures, whisper quiet, easy to set-up

Epson EH-TW2900

Epson have created an LCD projector that will make the more expensive DLP rivals sit up and take notice

Precise HD images ; Easy setup ; Quiet operation

Average contrast ; Rather fiddly onscreen menus

You'll find dearer projectors fitted with more advanced technology to combat film resolution loss, but at just over £1,000, the EH-TW2900's simplicity and versatility make it an enticing and whisper-quiet entry level full HD projector.

Epson EH-TW2900 review

While Epson's main focus this year seems to be on the higher end, higher-price section of the projection market, its mid-range TW2900 actually turns out to be a really quite exceptional bargain, delivering far more features and football-friendly...

Pictures are clean, bright and motion-friendly ; Easy to set up ; Runs very quietly ; Bright enough to be watchable in ambient light

Large chassis ; HD could be a touch crisper ; Colour could be slightly richer ; Black levels not deep enough

Conclusion Despite its slight picture limitations, when considered against other projectors at its price level, the TW2900 is an unusually friendly, flexible projector that's also great fun to watch with films and footie alike

Epson EH-TW2900 review

At just under £1,200, Epson's EH-TW2900 is one of the cheapest 1080p LCD home cinema projectors currently available. It's significantly larger than similarly priced DLP projectors, so it's not an ideal choice if you want a projector that can easily be...

The cheapest LCD projector we've ever reviewed is the best value choice if you can't stand DLP, even though its rendition of dark scenes lacks impact.

Epson EH-TW2900 LCD Projector

The Epson EH-TW2900 is suitably included in the growing list of decent and attractively priced home cinema projectors.

I somehow contrived to finish the main review on what felt like something of a downer. But this really isn’t a fair reflection of the Epson TW2900 overall. For while it might not have the brassy casual appeal of Optoma and BenQ's recent mega-cheap DLP...

A solid effort from Epson ? the projector's small flaws only highlight the quality available at this price

Easy set-up, Full HD;bright, vivid colours; good insight; quiet

Lacks solidity with black levels; a little soft around edges
