Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 3020

In the past if you wanted a really big screen you'd get a projector. But with companies like Sharp now releasing 90-inch televisions , big-picture aficionados with extra cash can avoid the hassles of buying a projection screen and having to nurse a...

The Epson PowerLite 3020 offers up decent amounts of shadow detail and black level for a budget-minded projector. It's easy to use and offers a lot of tweaking capabilities. 3D and 24P playback are miles ahead of what a TV at the same price can offer.

WirelessHD (3020e only) is an expensive upgrade and needs clear line of sight to work; colors are a little off compared to the cheaper BenQ W107; black levels come at the expense of a noisy iris motor.

The Epson PowerLite 3020 projector series offers up a decent deal with a sophisticated picture and a couple of unique features.

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080

At first the picture was a tad dark. But after cranking up the brightness and contrast, it looked every bit as good as any LCD or plasma we tested â¿¿

Simple, useful menu system. Excellent video processing, which means a great picture from just about any HD source. Quiet

Cream-colored case looks like a relic from an ’80s boardroom. Thankfully, it'll likely end up ceiling-mounted and out of sight

Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 1080

Just a year ago, finding “affordable” 1080p front projection meant writing a check for at least 5 zeroes – and even then, you were more likely than not to sacrifice features for dollars. Happily, prices on equip-ment are beginning to come down,...

Plenty of extra functionality such as lens shift ; security slot ; control deactivation ; etc

Replacing the air filter can be overlooked and result in degraded performance

1080p HDTVs are all the rage, so why should those choosing front projectors have to settle for anything less?

Epson Home Cinema 1080UB LCD Projector

If front projection home theater is your game, check out Epson's latest 1080p projector, the Home Cinema 1080 UB. With excellent blacks (for an LCD projector), accurate colors and a relatively affordable price, Epson knocks one out of the park.

Overall, the image from the Epson Home Cinema 1080 UB is impressive, with great blacks and contrast, realistic colors and breathtaking detail, particularly with high definition sources such as 1080i broadcast HDTV and 1080p Blu-ray Disc movies. Its...
